ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Can't seem to find any info on Transfer window dates. Is it the whole of January?

Any inside news on who we might see come or go?

I've heard speculation and rumour about Rowles, Nisbet and Tongyik....wouldn't want to lose any of them.

14th Jan to 10th Feb

High quality keeper, opening international borders. Whether there's a substantial offer and goes is a different point.

Why do you think its unlikely? Let's digest your opinion.
What you just said. Even if he did get an offer the fact he signed a 2 year deal to stay, he was (i think) the first re-signing announced and was very positive in interviews about staying all make it unlikely he'd leave mid season.

We've also got our 2nd keeper on long term injury so he's basically guaranteed game time. Birraz is a good A league keeper and I'm glad we've got him but I'm not sure he's good enough to be a first team keeper in Europe. It wouldn't be a very attractive proposition to sit on a bench again, seem to recall he already did that for a long time before joining us.

Maybe an Asian team i suppose, still don't think it's likely. Hopefully I'm not eating humble pie in 2 weeks time...!

I wonder why we would be in the market for a striker? I thought we were building nicely upfront and it takes time to get combinations working etc? What am I missing (inviting comments from the football scholars here), cheers

If Monty is considering him I think he could handle him
I don't doubt Monty's judgement mate, if this is true and he thinks he would be a valuable edition then who are we to say otherwise.

I'm just expressing my opinion on the info given and on paper, he doesn't look to be all that great. He lost the starting striker position and he has a questionable attitude and disciplinary record, not something we would want to rub off on any of our youngsters if this was true.

We don't have much to go on so could be BS or maybe if true and we get him he can turn a new leaf and bang goals for us, who knows.

Does he replace a current striker?
Does he replace a youth spot?

I thought we were doing quite well without Simmo who could well be only a few weeks from returning now that we have a decent break in the season due to covid?

So many questions...

Yeah it's probably an injury replacement

Monty would likely have spoken to him and said this is a chance to resurrect your career, come in, work super hard, play for the team, give a110% and be selfless and you're back. Anything else and you're in the reserves and your career is over. Win win in that regard except for wages (unless covered by injury replacement insurance)
