Kwassie will be left mid i would say. Will be hard to push him out of there.

Elrich could be alright, with a full pre-season. Hopefully we did not throw too much cash at him.

Reallly?

I'm not sure how many games Kwassy would start next season, when we can put out our best midfield.

It showed last season when if there were no injuries (which was rarely the situation) that the midfield would be Hutch, Tommy, Jedi and Owens.

IMO, I think we will see much of the same next year, but with Caceres, Jedi, Hutch/new AM, Elrich.

Sorry to get off topic, but has anyone heard the rumor about us signing Dylan MacAllister? Seems to be a fair amount of noise around this...

Should be announced tomorrow. 1 Northern Spirit player, can't see many choices there except for MacAllister, one of the keepers or a replacement for Viddy (Milligan - though he seems to be off to France)

Kwas scored 6 goals last season. Always looked to attack players, and put in crosses. He has a huge work ethic, and by the looks of things trains well. He played consistently last season until he got injured, then still made his way back into the first team.

No one else will contribute that many goals from midfield. No one did.

Interesting to see on both Elrich's and Macallister's wiki,
they both played for Lyn Oslo in 2006 so they might know each other.
Elrich could have even put in a good word for Macallister

I don't mind the better of the Elrich's coming to the Mariners and has produced some good stuff in the past and can only hope that the price was right (for the club) and Lawrie can get him to the potential he has shown he has unlike the Wellington gaffer.

MacCallister is someone I have never seen although heard his name mentioned before.

Interesting times for our team and hope enough scouting has been done to get the best players we can. Still waiting on the great new marquee player but I guess there's plenty of time left.

Could turn out to be a quality signing
He looked unfit last season, so hopefully with a full pre season under his belt he will be able to play to his ability

Apparently he is the more talented of the two brothers. Could be a very good signing...pre-season will tell.

For mine Kwassie is a bench player at best. He is Lawrie's pet project so he starts games he shouldn't.  Yes he scored six goals but Heffernan scored more from the left back position in season 1.
Kwas is fast and tries hard but has probably the highest error ratio of any midfielder in HAL. He will be useful coming off the bench late in a game when the defence is tired and he can skin em for speed down the flanks.

Caceres looks far superior and i suspect will be the starting left winger.

That would be dissapointing considering that the Marquee does'nt come out of the salary cap and from everything we've heard sponsorship should allow it to be financially viable.

Personally I would be rapped if Yorke made the CC home for a season considering increased crowds to help produce income and more importantly that he must be fit playing for Sunderland this EPL season. Obviously we could do better, but considering our position within world football it would'nt be that bad.

It's claimed we have the money so it would be really disappointing if we did'nt spend it.

Once his contract with Lyn Oslo expires, Dylan will join A-League club, Central Coast Mariners.

I would rather we spent the money on youth facilities and ensure we have quality players coming through the system!

A marquee player consumes to much money for only a small gain on the pitch, and there are also income inequalities within the team that would arise.

Profile produces money. Money is what produces better stadiums, facilities, youth teams, and potentially a major Asian backer that allows us to be consistantly the best team in the A-League. Profile and the fact that we will enter the ACL next year is important to attract long term major sponsorship that all other thing flow from. If you look at OS competitions the clubs with the best facilities and training systems for young players are the ones with the financial ability to do it.

That would mean getting a good marquee player to help raise the profile of the club that could very well come back to the club many times the money outlayed. I think with our playing in the ACL next year it is much more important to get a marquee to take advantage of the potential benefits.
