ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Not so sure. Canberrans love sport, and have a larger population base [Click on each for results]

The Central Canberra Mariners team would probs also attract inland rural fans, Wagga etc while the CC is constrained by Sydney and Newcastle whose populations are most likely committed to other clubs, so little future growth for memberships.
yep them Canberrians are fanatics for sport , they roll out in their dozens some games to watch the raiders who have been there for decades and if memory serves , the two NSL i went to in canberra didnt draw the locals much at all and one of the teams playing was theirs

If he has committed to fund the football department for three years that is a win. I was fearful that this season would put the Club in the red with stories of unpaid wages appearing after the end of the season. This will cover a major cost.
The tv deal may be covering the players but I hate to think how much money it is costing to [lay in stadiums with the crowd numbers we have been seeing.
I was concerned the Club would be keen on selling contracted players to whoever they could for whatever they could get.

Holy shit. Think I can see where this is heading
Or they can't compete with the other Canberra bid and decided to look for a club that was available. It's going back in a circle now and his involvement in that bid has already been mentioned in the 'not worthy of a whole thread' thread.

It doesn't make sense for the APL to let someone buy us and relocate when they could just collect a whole lot of cash to admit a new club. They even have an interested party who is supposedly well funded that's been knocking at the door since before WU came along.

Stop worrying about relocating to Canberra, it will not happen.
I suspect CCM is second prize and a fallback position if his bid for a new Canberra team fails or is outcompeted. It probably explains why he is paying to have an option to buy in 3 years time. By then the new licences should be decided.
It could also help his son's time in the CCM Academy.

Is it a permanent move though or just up here with his son? Looking a bit further on Instagram, he previously lived in or around Belconnen, and his missus still seems to live there based on her posts - which includes a picture of Terrigal Haven last week with the caption "home away from home".

Based on the two posts I have seen from you on this whole matter, you seem to have some inside information. Feel free to provide a full comprehensive report to the rest of us whenever you want......... ;)
