I thought the first half was ordinary, second was a big improvement, we looked a little lost in midfield in the first but second half seemed more settled and direct.Ollie and Wee Mac combined well, for mine we need Grifiths to play DM, hes a big lad and reads the game well.Hutch will figure but where? and Nik made me $$$ so all good there for me

With him & Mcglinchey in the Central midfield I can`t see Hutcho getting much of a run this year.

I am astounded at the amount of people who lump midfielders all into the same category.

Do we really think McGlinchey or Bozanic can effectively play a defensive midfield role?

Bozanic and weemac worked brilliantly together last night

Smith was much better in the 2nd half when he moved into the middle.
I was impressed with Gallagher down the left, looked very useful.
Bozanic was class, little terrier.
Mrdja looked sharp.
Big guys at the back & up front, fast little f**kers in the middle, very promising.

In other news, Scum played an NBN select side last night. They won 3-1 but guy here at work said that they were absolutely awful and the result was flattering.

He has grave concerns for them this season.

I so hope he is right

Excellent news...

I take it that Perez did not play...

The only way Ollie and Wee Mac/Perez can play in the same side is with Ollie at LM and one of the others in the No10 role. With both in the middle of a flat midfield, we will get smashed in the HAL.

Whilst Wee Mac was good last night, his habit of going missing was evident again.

Griffiths and then Hurch in the DM role did was was needed, broke up play and then played the simple ball to get things going. no aimless hoofing.

Hi All,

The official crowd before KO was 923. This figure includes everyone except players and officials. Overall it was a great night and I really enjoyed seeing a Central Coast team playing in colours we first wore in 1978. The kit including playing shirt, shorts and socks, tracksuit top and polo, were all supplied by Number 10 Teamwear, many thanks to them!! The team performed brilliantly and for those that were present at Lawrie's half time team talk I am sure it will live long in their memory!! The team was selected throughout the FMS Premier League and there are many players that can consider themselves unlucky not to make the final 17. Interseting to note that 15 of the 17 have played for the Central Coast at representative level and 13 of the 17 have played first grade for the Central Coast at representative level. Nine of the the 17 were asked to play this season for the Lightning but declined the offer!! Last night illustrates the strength of the FMS Premier League and the depth of talent we have on the Central Coast. Many thanks to Sharon Pearce from the Mariners for all her great help. And to all the volunteers that helped throughout the night.
I thought the pitch was in good condition considering the recent weather we have had. And the crowd was in fine voice! Thankyou to all those that attended, I hope to see you all again soon.

Thanks

Thanks Nathan, its was indeed a good night.

My personal view was that last nights side would be much more competitive than the current CC Lightning side. Why are all these players declining the offer to play at the State level?

Based on your comments is it worth having a go at a 3-2-3-2 system

Wilko --- Doig--- Rose (LB)

----Griffiths --- Hurch

WeeMac(see below) ---- Perez ---- Ollie (Left side)

----Breen -------Matty

I read someone who said weeMac did his wandering thing .. maybe Aimini as a right mid keep him away from central defenders...Also Porter as a defensive mid not a bad option...

That is your opinion! There is no doubt that several of the players would make the current CC Lightning squad have much more depth. But several of the players from the team last night have been there before with similar results as the current squad. I have played at both NSW premier League and Super League level with the majority of the FMS squad and I feel that there are a number of reasons why the guys left and went back to "local League". The rep season starts in November and is a greater commitment than local football. The travel is difficult and when your not getting paid or getting very little then there is little incentive to put in such a commitment. Playing "local league" is more of a social event and is a major factor in why players leave the rep set up! That is why I did it and why many will continue to do so!! Personally I feel that last night was what rep football is about, good players playing for the Central Coast in front of the Central Coast people.  Go the Coasties!!!

I caught the 2nd game down in Canberra and Bozanic was left, Amini central (in Perez's spot) and Weemac right. Weemac played very narrow and Porter provided the width when he came on bombing down the right. It worked well against Belconnen but I will be very interested to see how the narrow diamond works against HAL opposition and if the wingbacks have as much license to get forward. If we give the ball away cheaply the DM and 2 centre backs will be under all sorts of pressure especially against a pacy attack.

Marinermick,
Ok, so we have attacking midfielders, defensive midfielders, wide midfielders, tall midfielders, small midfielders, creative midfielders, lazy midfielders. Sorry if i left any other type of midfielder out.
My point was :- I don`t think Hutcho will get much of a run because Weemac & Boz (in my book) are certain starters.
I don`t class Hutcho as a wide-man simply becase he is a bit slower, he doesn`t like making long runs, he doesn`t run at players & take them on & his long game is pretty crap (sorry Hutcho).
So with Porter, Perez, Griffith,Gallagher,Lewis,Bojic etc. the competition for midfield spots is going to be very competitive.

Therefore, " I don`t think Hutcho will get much of a run".

Don`t get me wrong, I think it`s a good thing for everyone that we finally have options.
