ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The article is your smart for passing, look at my the mess at Jerks.

If they didn't sack the coach sand were playing well the article would have been you idiot you passed on them.

Just timing

Also reads as for that price tell me there dreaming. They probably even said we can buy Newcastle for $5m so that's our limit.

Also reads as when developed come take the finished product when it will be at its highest value.

Good spot but see how she is after the road works it's a mess at certain times at the moment

I'm calling Bull-shit on that one !

If Okon was truly the one you wanted from the get-go of Walmsley's sacking
...... then why the fcuk did you waste 3 precious weeks of pre-season training/planning, not to mention all of the subsequent bad press that occurred in those 3 weeks about the repeated dysfunctionality of your club & speculation of possible Coaches
..... until finally announcing Paolo as your '1st pick' ???

Not buying it.
Announce Okon's appointment & do it within 3-4 days of Walmsley's sacking (your decision all along - as you allude)
...... then imagine the media landscape today if you had of made that decision.
Okon's contract would have been an issue and could have been a cause of the delay (with YS).
There was an article saying the person they had always wanted was going to be the man they get.

Then why the BS on "were considering x3 local candidates & x2/3 overseas Coaches" etc, etc.

The FFA would of green lighted Okon to leave the Young Socceroo's the instant Paolo 'asked' permission to take on the CCM Coaching role.

Instant green-light if purely to end the CCM 'media-circus' that they (FFA) well know ensues following our previous debacles at the club.

The FFA's vested interest in us having a quality coach like Okon 'appointed quickly' to avoid more negativity that already surrounds CCM, far outweighs them losing him as the YS Coach.

I think Charlesworth still hangs onto the stupid ideology of:
"Any publicity, even negative publicity is better than no publicity"

The DA paperwork that was linked to in the COE thread indicates that the COE's project value (excluding cost of land) is $18.5m (and that was in 2009). The land value is not negligible either, and would've gone up since then! I don't know about $50m, but I would be surprised if it was less than $25m.

The football club, on the other hand, is a more difficult thing to value. How do you value something with (vaguely educated guesses here) current revenues of $6m, current spend of $7m and a *hope* of an improvement to revenue 12 months from now. Add to that the fact that you trade your bottom line for goodwill - everyone loves you when you're bleeding red ink to put out an expensive side and hates you when you try to stem the flow. So fiscal rectitude ends up punishing you because your revenue dries up...

If you can get $5m for it, take it, but MC's involvement in the COE doesn't make sense without the football club. This is why the football club looks like it's a second-order priority - it actually is!

Searched through the council sites; turns out the latest iteration of the development plans (that I can find: DA612 / 2009 L) indicate value of works at $25m.

Put land value on top. Put the football club on top - MC might be after somewhere over $35m for the lot, and even then only after it's finished.

Presumably that would only be a starting point as well, bearing in mind that there are ongoing revenues from the complex. By the time there's hotel, restaurant etc. etc. in there you wouldn't think that would be negligible.. Unless he was in particularly dire need of cashflow - or particularly sick of having to deal with us ;) - it seems to me that he'd be silly not to hang onto it unless someone came across with a very substantial offer...

At the current rate, he could actually end up as part of a very elite club of people who actually managed to make money owing a sports team - even if the revenue is from elsewhere ;)

If he sold the Football team only, would the COE be even legally allowed to use the name 'Mariners', particularly in the clubs font &/or colours, as well as also use the club badge ???

It's licensed from the FFA, surely they and a new owner wouldn't allow it.

Otherwise Charlesworth could keep building stuff :p & slapping 'Mariners This' or 'Mariners That' on every development ???

Anyone who thinks they'll be seperated any time soon is dreaming. They've followed a rugby league model with tweaks included to be football specific taking into account the global nature of our sport. The only time they'll be seperated is when the football club is able to tick along without losing wads of cash every year.

NPL coach bags Mariners for not playing youth, clearly hasn't looked at our squad.

Average age <25. And the big issue for us was that we didn't have A-League experienced players, and instead played kids and NPL players.

And in playing this inexpensive, inexperienced squad, giving chances to players who wouldn't otherwise get them, would've got relegated.

If the NPL clubs who want promotion and relegation can pick one argument at a time, that'd be tops.

I agree with him on Marcus Schroen he more than deserves an A-League contract and was a star in Heart's youth team yet John Aloisi picked Michael Misfud over him...

Complaining that noone wants to pay more than minimum wage for an untested at professional level player in Milos Lujic is absurd. He's been offered plenty of contracts and if he took one and performed for a year (or possibly even less with performance clauses) he would get the money he wanted and more but instead he is content to not challenge himself at NPL level. That is no fault of the A-League and its' coaches but the fault of unambitious and lazy players.

Cheap shot at the end by another embittered NPL coach from Melbourne

Amazing.

How anyone can deride the Mariners of all clubs as not giving youth a go, and then in the next breath suck up to Muscat and Victory as a pillar of carrying the flag fro the NPL?? Connor Pain could barely get a look in. One of the most promising youngster to hit the HAL in the past 4 years. Just absurd.

Yeah big time. Had a rant in the game thread - and just read the article in the thread, so no click from me for that load of malicious bollocks.
