ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

All +1.

I really am concerned that the club has made NO announcements in this January transfer window and we are in desperate need of new players for the ACL and beyond.

I re-iterate my previous comment that we are going to be awful in the ACL if we go into the campaign with the existing squad. The worrying thing though, is that utilising the existing squad is exactly what we've come to expect from Lawrie and the club.

Going into the ACL with our existing squad, we will be only a little better then the Jest going into the ACL with their current squad.

CENTRAL Coast rate Socceroo David Carney and Northern Ireland winger Keith Gillespie at long odds to play in the club's Asian Champions League campaign.

While Carney and former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers favourite Gillespie are both out of favour at Sheffield United, Mariners executive chairman Lyall Gorman says he does not expect either player to be signed by the February 11 deadline.

"Yes, we have been in discussions with Sheffield about the two players. They are part of the Sheffield United global family but nothing has materialised," Gorman said yesterday.

"I do know David has a preference to stay in Europe and is hopeful something happens before the transfer window closes (January 31). I don't know what Gillespie is thinking."

Gillespie has hardly had any game time at Sheffield United and was on loan to struggling Charlton but is now back with the Blades.

"We've been looking at 20 other players and how we can best add depth to our squad," Gorman said.

Depth is not needed, we have a squad full of depth and no starting 11. (bit harsh, maybe we have 5 of the 11)

If we could secure a solid DM and CB to our roster I think we would stand a much better chance in the ACL. Be even better if we could find them before the finals as far fetched as it sounds, heres hoping...

We need a marquee (someone with flair, determination) attacking minded
We need a solid CB
A solid RB ? possibly
A Jedi type play to fill DM

I think we need to drop O'Grady, Owens, Osman.  Possibly gumps

We need better management of our youth team and academy

The club is in nothing like Sydney or Newcastle-style turmoil, since those two clubs set a new standard for incompetence for non-Knights clubs.

The major issue this season has been a poor defence, even though a few teams are worse in that department, poor defending has let the Mariners down.

Also come to the realisation that this season's league is a much better and tougher competition than last season's, as is evident by Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory being the top two when those two team failed to deliver last season. Therefore, finishing 3rd or 4th is not unexpected.

Furthermore, many people thought Sydney would finish in the top 3, only for them to fail spectacularly.
