ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

But this season he is the mariners hopes (especially with no jedinak). I mean yes WeeMac and Travis came in, but before anyone saw how good they were- he must have had a heap of pressure.
I dont envy him at all, it must be hard having to cover for inept striking ability of his 2 striking 'colleagues'.
I wont blast Macca that much (mainy because he tries), but tbh he has contributed to this undue pressure on Matty's shoulders.

I agree with this, he has to be feeling the pressure of being the only striker with us that has hit the target. The only time he has looked comfortable with a partner up front was the GC game.

I think Big Mac should have the chance to find form next to Matty now for an extended run. Mrjda can be sub or NYL but should not be first team untill its clear that;
a) Big Mac is no good and can not improve/find form
b) we will not sign another striker
c) hell has frozen over

Maybe Matty is being smart for when he finally does get hurt bad ( and the way he plays it will happen) someone on a long term contract will have to take over from mrja/owens/elrich etc. or are CCM banking on someone to come knocking?

Sadly...i think you might be right about the way he plays...its risky and he gets injured a lot. Unfortunately he cant help it because this fact is a result of his style of play. And If he played any less risky- he wouldnt be our Matty Simon!
A bit like how Rafael Nadal has broken down in the tennis world (for those tennis fans out there)- amazing player (but I'm a federer fan)- but his body just cant handle the fierce intense & risky playing style he employs.

maybe we just need a striker who can trap the ball? everytime mrdja got the ball on monday he could never trap it. sure, some of the times it was belted at him but i dont remember him turning with it ever to have a shot. his one shot was off a freekick

obviously LM has done a heap of defensive training and its working a peach, but the offensive training?...
im up for pushing weemac into second striker

And risk not having the ball reach the forward line on the ground? If he was pushed forward he would just end up going back into the mids to get it.

I do have the same thoughts in that regard...but is it worth a try? Considering we are struggling for goals against every bar Gold Coast :p
Have to hope Travis & co are good enough to supply WeeMac + Simon. If not what's the harm done?

Travis perhaps??  I know he's ace on the wide, but he doesn't appear to be half bad tearing through the middle either.

Yep my thoughts too, if anyone is gonna do it, it has to be him.
