CCM final third solutions thread...

Generally prefer to try and be positive and proactive when it comes to problems, and we have one... and I reallllllyyyy don't want to wait till next year to solve our attack problems if we can help it....

Bringing someone new in is the obvious solution... But if we can't do that, then what could we do right now with what we have?

???

I'll kick it off with my left field idea first...

Ok, my reasoning is that we clearly need a striker who likes to run at defenders, is ball to feet skillful, creative and doesn't mind having a dig...

We have two players that to fair degree can be said to fit that bill... Travis and Kwas... and only one player who fits that description very well... Wee Mac...

Butttttttt......

Imagine our midfield diamond without Weemac in their... we have to have a replacement...

Enter Panni Nikos.

        Danny
Boogs Doig Wilko Heff
          Pedj
Travis          Hutch
        Panni

    Wee Mac
            Simon
???

While I like the idea - I still think we need a quality striker. Yes I think Wee Mac could be our version of Liverpool's Benayoun who at Maccabi Haifa was quite prolific.

The problem comes with Panni. He is a rich vein of form at the moment. Having only seen him once will he be able to keep that up? What happens if either he or Wee Mac get injured?

Simply put - good idea - but we need a quality stiker as well.

Good points.

Its a temporary possible solution to compensate for the... till we get another striker issue and was not meant to replace it.

As to Panni's form. I agree, but he would not have been captain of his side this year and then made Youth Captain unless he is generally one of the more consistent players. You can just sense it about him. Also I'm a believer in you need to give youth a chance and that even his one start I have seen him make, alongside established first team players like Elrich and Kwas warranted giving him a chance.

So I say lets give it to him and find out of he's truly up to it then...

I'd be happy to give him a chance especially since we certainly need something different up front.

The gaffers post match comments imply that he knows we have a problem if Matty is out.

That is a good thing.

Personally, I would reconsider 4231 even if Matty is fit.

If he isnt, you only have 1 waste of space up front instead of 2.

As for Panni, he isnt going to be the answer to our goalscoring woes. He isnt a striker.

I'd rather see him give Brady a go than Mrdja. He might not be ready but at least he would give a shit and try

+1

He has gotta be worth more of a go than Mrjda. To see him step on a ball with an open goal is just excruciating. He will not be given a better chance to overcome his biblical form drought.

As has been said by others in other places before as well as here, we need a genuine striker who is a different style of player to Matty (and Dmac). We need variety up there. AFL sides make sure that they have big players to get their hands on the ball and small players to get in and under when the pill hits the deck. While the game is much different, the principle is the same - we need a smaller, more nimble type (I'm not bagging Matty & Mac) who can "get in and under" and run the defence about a bit. It must be easier for a defence to handle a couple of the same type of guy, a lot more difficult when they're different, requiring a different style of defence.

Somebody said it in another thread - Sign Kerim Bulut from SFC youth team. He would be cheap, young and apparently can find the target. Perhaps a little unpolished but has got to be better then our plodders on effort alone.

Not sure this is an option, but wasn't Gary Wale a striker? Didn't he perform ok in the trials? Not sure if he is still in Oz or even is a midfielder instead.

Wasn't saying Panni for striker. Wemac for striker - Panni for creative mid replacement.

I heard Gary Wales went back overseas... but then saw him playing in the premiere league?

Sign a cheap young talent is good. But hard on someone like Brady, but if he was up to it surely the gaffer wouldn't still be starting Mrdja.

Part of the reason he hasn't got a senior contract with SFC yet is that he apparently has trials lined up with several Italian clubs in January, including Serie A clubs, so he hasn't signed a permanent deal as it would get in the way of a potential move.

What about that nippy little fijian dude thats been trialling with a couple of clubs. They could also start putting Kava on tap at the stadium so Bluetongue isn't the worst tasting beverage available.

LOL @ signing Bulut

He won't be here much past the new year, methinks he'll get picked up in the overseas trials he has scheduled.
