ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He is hoping to get a contract for next year. I think Mulvey pencilled him in as next seasons captain. He has been decent, I expect to see him here next season in some form.

I refuse to believe he isn’t on a paid full time contract. It’s illegal in a full professional league. You get some brilliant info mate and are regularly correct. Please give us the details on what you’re going on about.

Just my opinion but if there is something a bit suss going on it’s maybe best not to mention it on a public forum

Training spat added fuel to the fire at crisis-torn Mariners

Four Central Coast Mariners players were forced to train away from the rest of the team last week, prompting intervention from Professional Footballers Australia in the dying days of Mike Mulvey's reign as coach.

The Herald understands winger Connor Pain, back-up goalkeeper Adam Pearce and utility Josh Macdonald were separated from their teammates due to a perceived bad attitude and instructed to train at a different location and time to the remainder of the squad.

Montgomery looms as the in-house option, but there is a chance the Mariners may look outside the club for a short-term appointment. However, no approach has been made to Western United for John Hutchinson, who was Central Coast's captain in their 2013 A-League grand final victory and was recently installed as an assistant coach at the expansion club.

Touted by some as a potential saviour for the Mariners, the Herald has been told Hutchinson has no 'out clause' in his contract and that Western United would be unwilling to release him in any case.

The latest dramas at the Gosford club have raised fresh concerns about the club's long-term viability. Owner Mike Charlesworth is understood to have turned down an $8.5 million cash buyout offer two months ago from an overseas consortium who were content to keep the club in the region and focus their efforts on the development and subsequent sale of young players.

However, there is a glimmer of hope. Taking over the management rights for Central Coast Stadium is seen by some club insiders as the ticket to future sustainability, and it appears Central Coast Council is at least willing to have a discussion about it.

"Council is keen to see Central Coast Stadium reach its full potential and will give due consideration to any formal proposal by the Mariners relating to its management with a view to maximising the contribution the Stadium makes to the future of the Central Coast," a council spokesperson told the Herald.

I posted thiselsewhere.
Isit time for the supporters to seriously organise and offer MC a price for say 49%?
Start a trust or Pty ltd company, start a subscription service to show cash flow and then undertake a loan depending on serviceability. When the loan is paid off then funds can then be diverted to say a marquee fund and emergency fund for the club.
6000 odd thousand members plus numerous supporters interstate.
Surely 1000 people would pay 100/m for voting rights and say 5000 paying 25/m for the commitment to the club and community.
Are we organised enough to establish this? IMO it would stabilise our licence.
There's plenty of examples to guide us.

Shaun......this season is gone, but there are some things that should be started immediately to ready us for next season.
As Forum Phoenix said back in Feb (https://www.ccmfans.net/community/t...page-289#post-271100).....Charlesworth/Phelan should put in place an experienced scout....someone who can actively search out and find for us some real talent that we can afford. We (in Australia) do not do this well....we rely to much on highlight dvd's and then are surprised when things don't work out. But if the Mariners truly want to be competitive again (and at a budget we can afford) we need to be different to the other A-League clubs and go and FIND that talent. Not necessarily in NPL teams but in the Asian/Indian/African/Eastern Euro leagues. This could also help our owner achieve his Moneyball dream that never eventuated (poorly executed in the past). This is also something that Mike Phelan can provide real value to the Mariners on.....as his time at Man Utd would provide LOTS of very useful contcts for a club like ours)
The second thing that has been stated over and over again on these forums is GET A PROPER FITNESS COACH AND GOALKEEPING COACH.
Our players are the least fit in the comp...you only have to look at the number of times we have died in the second half. We NEVER had that issue when we had Clarkey. And I probably don't need to say anything about our goalkeeping. But these two things have cost us dearly this season and that's why we are BOTTOM.
And finally.....rebuild the links to the locals on the coast. The Mariners used to always be at local events/schools/sporting events/radio (SEA-FM/2GO). It's not hard to get "stuff" in the papers, even if you write it yourself. But you MUST have the Mariners much visible locally. People need to be talking about them (and not because of manager sackings or 8-2 losses). Our players are paid by the club. They should be ambassadors and attending anything locally that brings visibility for the Mariners....
Regardless of WHO the manager is next season, there is nothing to stop us starting to build for next season NOW.

@Shaun Mielekamp you need to try and hook up a friendly game with Man U as compensation for Phelan. Ole’s side are reportedly looking at this and so should we.

It maybe to late to crash the perth party or get them to come here after but it would pack CCS and the ticket prices could be quite high with the limited seating and every seat has a great view.
This would be massive for the central coast and the football community. Members like myself should have the option to purchase normal seats before anyone else but. Make it happen CCM!

With the recent news regarding club licenses going until 2034 and pro rel probably not being option until then what's stopping Charlesworth from still spending less than other clubs?

Edot: some c**t doesn't like typos whoops

Almost every other club. Wellington spent less than us this year. But his lack of investment in years gone by definitely hasn’t helped our current situation
