f**king shits me how the line of remaining on the coast comes up when there is drama. He's the f**king owner if he wants it to remain on the coast then it f**king does. The only person capable of changing that is him.
It's this f**king bullshiting that has the club in a position its never been No soul. No purpose. No direction. NO WINS. No style.

heard the groundsman has quit also at COE. Don't know his name but he always looked so happy mowing away and caring for the grounds. Seriously what's going on?

Yes we’ve turned into a perennial shambles on field and need to spend to be more competitive, end of, but no one has done more for youth or the NT since the inception of the HAL... that matters.

Our academy and many other endeavours off field are serious achievements built through large amounts of work and investment. I’ve had a gutful of our performances, I wish MC could afford to spend more so all this suffering could be avoided, but I’m still proud of our club and being the only regional team. Which is a massive challenge that no one else faces and also has every correlation with why we struggle financially. Which has every correlation with why we’ve been doing so poorly on field.

League still needs to support and grow not eat it’s own.

Too many haters out there that were all over us even when we were very successful, now they love to jump on us and we’ve given them so much ammunition to do so. But f**ked if I’ll stop fighting for my club.

Will never support or tolerate the dismantling of the Mariners or those who propose it.

We can turn this around. I genuinely believe the club have been trying this year... I just think they’ve failed.

I dispute what you say about our academy.

In the past five years we have only produced two genuine A-League players through our junior ranks - Trent Buhagiar and Lachie Wales. Where are they now?

In the eight years before that we only produced Andrew Redmayne and Ollie Bosanic (and Brad Porter to a lesser extent) and they were on the older side when they started at the Mariners.

The youth and NT players we produced had already developed their football somewhere else, most notiably Western Sydney and through the awesome work of Tony Walmsley. That tap turned off when WSW came onboard and Sydney FC got better at scouting Westies.

Coaches like Lawrie and Arnie and their networks were just good at scouting. They picked up players from around the country like Sainsbury, Rogic and Amini that were on the verge of first team football.

Our Academy has been a shambles and ineffective over the years.

We can only hope it changes with the restructure but I suspect not.

Shaun comes on and chats which is great but overall we're told very little of substance.
In other codes it's made very clear what is going on with players, for instance.
We have been left in the dark abota McCormack, Hiariej etc the whole time
I disagree. An easy example immediately coming to mind is Cameron Smith & the Melbourne Storm - only announced tonight he's re-signing with the club after a stand-off for the last 5-6 months about his contract. Neither side said much at all about it, most of it played out as speculation in the media, leaving fans frustrated. Generally in terms of contract negotiations and the like, clubs won't say anything until they've got something official to say.

Well said - we would be better off killing the academy and supporting the local association to lift coaching standards and grow players in their clubs. I watched a lot of the academy last season and there might be 1 or 2 who are worth a try at HAL level but thats about it. Pearce isnt one of them (and never was) he cost the academy a fair few games last season.
Save a few parents some money too

Should be doing both. Assisting the clubs to improve their coaching and pathways so we can then take them on and turn them into HAL players.

That’s a real shame to hear. I’m not close to the workings of the academy, so I’ll take you at your word (though I knew some happy parents in the early years).

I thought the latest development squads and the rating was a good step. Just bandaids or meaningless you think?

And futher more what youth player around the country would want to come here to improve their Football skills in the current state of the club that's what happens when you take your eye off the main prize and that's Football . Removing games from the coast and all the bickering between the council has disenfranchised the community and Football public at large. Give us a good product and they will come it's not hard. And the muppets still running this Gig are still scratching their heads band aid approaches will accomplish nothing until we get to the core. Football must come first and foremost and then loyalty to fans .

That's why we need the help from someone like phelan.... A name like that stirs interest. If he can get our program up to the Aussie equivalent of ManU that'll finally set us to the point we always knew we needed to be at. That being develop our own talent to then on sell.

We have a opportunity with the Football School to develop the first live-in academy with full schooling coupled with a full time football program. No one else in the country is doing this.

If fully set up we can use this live in facility to scout and then develop players from the Pacific Islands and our aboriginal communities.

Phelan has been involved in a review lasting 7 months so far (according to Charlesworth)
Things have not only got worse but you wonder why he has taken so long to achieve nothing.
Smoke, mirrors and bullshit.

It's a review mate. Actions are undertaken because of a reviews completion and recommendations.

Full time CCM Academy Coaches were announced & have been appointed yet the number of times the kids train per week were reduced (think @joe bailey may have been the one who reported the reduction ?? & can clarify).

If correct then thats simply counter productive in producing a production-line of talented kids, as well as being wasteful with the ca$h in making the Coaches Full-time yet their committments per week are reduced.
(ie: getting paid more money to do less work)

mate I know nyl train 4 mornings a week for an hour and a half. No fitness. Game stuff minimal intensity. NOWHERE near as good as NPL trainings last season with Schembri and Vasquez and NOWHERE good enough for A League standard. The good players will leave and ccm will be left with the rejects or those who can't be bothered imo. Not much to aspire to atm for the lads is there?
