Rodgers keen to nail down Rogic

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to keep Socceroo Tom Rogic at The Hoops for some time to come.

The Australian playmaker has just one year left on his contract and Celtic are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

Rogic, who was awarded Scotland’s best goal of the season, has shone in a series of international friendlies against England and Greece and has been linked with a move to EPL giants Arsenal.

But Rodgers made it clear that getting the skilful Aussie's signature on an extension is a priority.

“Tom I really like, he is very good,” Rodgers told the UK’s Sunday Express.

“He has good skill and ability, but he is coming off the back of having a really bad time with injuries a couple of years ago.

“Last year he was only really coming through that. Hopefully this year he can kick on again.”

The former Liverpool boss took over the reins from Ronny Deila in May and is hopeful of convincing Rogic and midfield teammate Stefan Johansen that their futures lie at Celtic after the club took out their 47th Scottish Premiership last season.

The sqaud is currently spending time on the continent, most recently in Slovenia, learning to adapt to Rodger's high-pressing game.

So its sounds like the Rogic rumours were bullshit. I think a season or two at a club like Leeds or QPR would be the stepping stone he needs to play in EPL.
He would suit West Ham or Southampton imho.

He'd get kicked to death in the Championship. He isn't fit enough or strong enough.
Luongo sank without trace at QPR and they are absolute shit.
Watch Bein Sports coverage when the season starts and try to imagine him at that level.
Scotland is a very poor level, championship would be a massive step up
