ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Thanks for starting such a great conversation @Lexi - it’s brought up some really interesting points

We’ve established that the captaincy change was part of the original plan, but there’s still a lot to think about when it comes to what makes a good captain. eg. does anyone think the captaincy itself could be a burden that impacts a player’s performance? Could having that responsibility either motivate a player or weigh them down?

There’s also the question of what leadership on the field should look like. Should a captain be vocal and directing play, or is it more about leading through example and presence? And how much of that leadership should be obvious to us watching from the stands?

And what do people think about the idea of "earning" the captaincy? Should it always go to the most experienced or skilled player, or are there other factors to consider?

What’s everyone’s take on all this?

I tend to use copilot more than GPT

I'd rate Gemini higher than Copilot, but each to their own. The main thing is, it's not really helpful to shut down new people straight away when they ask questions that might be a bit controversial to the group. It just makes it harder to grow the community and encourage more discussions.
Surely Lexi came across and said hello at alliance on Saturday 🤔

Agree, we all knew that, but why? Kaltak did a great job. I went to the game at Alliance on Saturday night, Kaltak kept gesturing and directing the backs, but I can't say I noticed too much hand-movement or talking from the Capatin to the rest of the team
Kaltak is close to being dropped. He has played well in maybe 2 games. Average in most and shocking in a few.

Really appreciating all the comments and your collective, different thoughts.
For the record, I am definitely NOT Kaltak, nor am I Mrs Kaltak......but I really like the Moniker.

Thanks Corsair, happy to be known as Mrs Kaltak, if you knew how old I am, you'd be laughing as much as I am at the thought.

Lexi is what I call my car, because she is a full EV. So my name for this forum is completely unrelated to AI, cyberspace or bots. In fact I had to google "bots" to know what it was!

Kinda glad I innocently chose such a contentious name for this forum,!

And sorry I didn't head over to say hello on Saturday, I went to the game with a dear friend who unfortunately follows the Silvertails, I keep reminding her that our boys combined probably earn less than Sydney FC's top 3 players, which is why I am very proud of them.

Aaah now I'm not sure....I feel a bit bad for calling you bottymcbotface but then....

Love your cynicism, it's wise to be cautious.

I did notice the robot is yellow. Well played Corsair.

Auckland are probably already using a white one, how else could they doing so well? Perhaps we should programme this yellow one. It certainly wouldn't hurt

This is a big couple of week for Sains though and what sort of impact he wants to have on the squad as a captain. He has a massive role to play in banding everyone together and getting the squad moving in the right direction. Big test for him over the next month.
