ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sash & Ossie ............ why are they in the poll almost the most unlikely player IMO ...Ossie even to hold his place in the team will be hard.

Mile, so long as it doesn't adversely affect his game. If he was with us for the entire season, then I would say Bosnich.

Well who else would you have in there? Hutch, Porter, Simon, Bojic...?

I put Sash in there because he's a senior player.

Apart from Jedi and Boogs, no one is a guaranteed starter at the moment. Wilko's form is terrible and he's not leading by example as he should be. Boogs isn't captain material just yet, hutch prob should be benched, sash is a lil too hot headed to be captain and no one else has the experience/leadership a captain needs. If bozza was staying he would be the obvious choice, no questions asked, but for the time being i think jedi should be the new one.

There is no way anyone outside the management group of CCM could make a decison on whether to replace the Captain or who should get the gig if they did.

Unless you work with people everyday and can see how they project leadership or handle pressure, you cannot determine who is best to lead and who isnt.

Firstly, is the captaincy having an effect on Wilko's performances?? I have no idea why his form is so poor at the moment.

Secondly, would his form improve if he was stripped of it. My management of people experience suggests not. Being "demoted" doesnt tend to inspire people to be at their best.

Thirdly, who would get it?? I have no idea who the leaders of the players are and neither would most posters on here.

I guess it comes down to the people Hutch and Wilko.
Do they find inspiraton from Loyalty and Trust, or Demotion and Competition for a Start?

Wilko is the man for the job. Last season he was v.good. He will come good again. Like i said before the backline is young without viddy so is probably lacking a bit of self belief at the moment. Ho w to rectify that? Not sure. A good clean sheet against Perth would be a great start.

I dont think the guy who started the thread was suggesting we would choose the new captain, nor suggesting we were best informed, just asking who you would make captain. Which is a fair enough question

Thats mostly why I voted "other" but we can't accept excuses/reasons for a poor performance indefinitely. If Wilko cannot pick his act up then we do need to make a change. Sure, if its just a slump and he comes good within the next game or two, no need for a change. On the other hand, if he compliments the last couple of games with a couple more just like it, are you suggesting we should continue to wait for him to come out of his slump? The season is only 21 rounds and nobody can afford to wait for half the season to go by to correct an obvious weakness. Give him two more games at most to sort it IMO.

Other than that, I agree with you. Jedi is the obvious choice from a personal performance and the security of including him in the run-on side, but I don't know the guy and have no idea what sort of a leader he is. It would be pointless making him captain if he can't marshall the troups and inspire the right sort of performance from his team mates at the appropriate times.

I can't see anyone else in the team being a realistic prospect for captain at the moment but, as I said about Jedi, I don't know any of these guys so its likely I'm not going to know who should be captain anyway.
