ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Bye Bye Sash?

i can see it coming down to the last week and were still without any signings...

it doesn't work quite so strictly over here. the transfer deadline is for people being released from a contract to join another club. i'm pretty sure a-league clubs aren't allowed to transfer players in this way.

the ACL registration deadline is another matter however...

Its a shame because what he says is true. Most of the best strikers are arrogant pricks, they need that confidence in themselves. Wouldn't be the first signing (re-signing) the mariners stuffed.

We will never know for sure but i think if Sash was on the park the last couple of weeks, we would have taken some points and a higher level of confidence into the semis.

2 years was not the only sticking point for the club. He wanted a stupid amount of money plus bonsuses - for goals, appearances, time on the park etc.

He knew he could get big money in Asia so held the club ransom with unrealistic terms.

Sad to see him go but the club just cannot afford his demands.

Nah, that's being greedy. Especially when he knows the club can't afford it.

Sasho has always been about Sasho - plain obvious in every interview.

Don't blame him though as a footballer's career is short and he doesn't seem like the type of guy that would be earning a fortune outside of football.

That's right. He is so earnest in his approach to football as a career. I find it admirable. Refreshing honesty. A far cry from JAloisi.

Or a uninspired Sash who has already signed for another club and resents ccmfc could be a liability?

I have heard Sash is being linked to Newcastle (which we already knew) and Nix
"zero chance" of him going to newcastle according to an employee of the jets

like the employees ever know what is going on when con makes the decisions

tis true, but given con's track record it is only just a little more believable

We aren't alone in shedding players ...

"Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell today informed defender Hayden Foxe and midfielder Nick Rizzo that their contracts with the club will not be renewed for next season"

It is part of moving the club on for the future ...

Well if Sash goes, Id say Disco Nik will get another contract and maybe a young striker will be brought in. State league or youth league anyone?

I for one will be sorry to see him go.....I rate Sash much higher than Nik, and think Sash does a whole lot more "off the ball" than Nik will ever do.  Given our dearth of talent in midfield, I wouldn't mind Lawrie trying Sash as an AM.  He has a really good awareness of the game and drags players to him which then frees up others and he is far more likely to come back and defend than Nik is.
However, if he does go...so be it.  I can understand the club's stance as well as Sasho's stance....
While most Sydney fans still see him as a Judas...they also still rate him and would have him back in a flash.
