It's a mass pissing in their pockets session.

And these wankers at FIFA will be lapping it all up.

Septic and his pals will be telling every one they talk to exactly what they want to hear.

:vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

Put yourself in the FIFA delegate's shoes Arabmariner and you'd be lapping it up too ( I know I would for the free trips and all the glamour etc.).

Can't wait for the day that a group of bidders all decide to launch their bids via a two page email with attachments - save a lot on the overall cost of any winning bid that's for sure! ;D

(I know that will never happen but surely the cost of just launching bids and competing is getting ridiculous, same applies to the Olympics bids too)

Septics would have a real chance as cracking the US market is worth more to FIFA than Oz

I think the fact they have hosted recently will count against them. FIFA seem to be looking for new hosts ala South Africa and I think we would have a great chance directly against the yanks.

Though africa was gifted after FIFA voted for germany in 06.

But i do think asia is a big market they want, especially with india and china growing financially.
If china had bidded they would have been very very hard to beat.

+ 1
if...if FIFA could actually successfully crack the US market- it would be unbelievably good
sure China is bigger etc.- but there football support far exceeds US.
Thta said if chinese football could improve- the thoughts are scary (considering how they own everyone else in almost every sport imaginable ;))

oh and +1 Jesus- I do think the 94 world cup will probably be  the biggest hurdle for the US to overcome

Could Bluetounge become a training centre for  a World Cup squad... Shepparton in Victoria is sending in a bid and jsut need their ground touched up a bit... we could get Bluey relaid...

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25626466-11088,00.html

With Australia's bid to host either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup to be launched at Parliament House in Canberra tomorrow, the Shepparton mayor says his city wants to be part of the action.

Dobson said Football Federation Australia would be sounded out about the possibility of hosting one of the 32 nations if Australia's bid for the cup was successful.

A Gosford stadium wouldn't be a training base, that's what Tuggerah is for.

On the other hand, AdelaideNow (the News Ltd online presence in Adelaide) is reporting that as part of the bid;

The FFA has commissioned plans for a series of boutique 25,000 seat stadiums that, with temporary seating for the Cup, lifts capacity to 45,000.

Stadiums - costing about $250 million each - would be built around the country off the same plan.

The temporary seating would be dismantled after the Cup tournament and given to schools and community sporting organisations.

The cost-saving plan is a cornerstone of Australia's bid.

That's the stuff. Gosford would surely be putting a hand up to get one of these flat-pack jobs (not necessarily on the present site) to host matches, not just training.

Renamed thread to reflect it's just about the WC now.

In other news, the bid launch is being broadcast live on Sky News today at 3pm and the bid website is http://www.australia2018-2022.com.au/ (not live yet)

The launch is one of the most stilted, dull things I've ever seen, and they keep having unfortunate AV issues. Sound is shaky, video is stuttering... someone should have got some professionals to do this rather than just getting someone to play the footage on a shitty laptop.

I didn't mind it either... this is just the first effort .... the kids doing a screaming act was the best bit... reminded me of painful school years..I was always the kid left behind to take the rap!  :-[
