quote to Fairfax from Pim.

"We'll miss Valeri, we'll miss Grella, which means automatically that the two positions in the central midfield are open, [but] I have possibilities," Verbeek said. "Jacob Burns, Jason Culina, maybe Mile [Jedinak], Stuart [Musialik] can do a job over there. I took [Paul] Reid also with me. [He's] an experienced player, doing quite well for his club and I'm quite curious to see him, so I have enough possibilities."

Jedi in MF, but I bet we have to see that odious scum monkey boy because he plays for SFC

worse than that, we'll get burns because he plays in europe. i'd rather have monkey boy.

Sydney wins World Cup qualifiers
October 13, 2008 10:50am

SYDNEY and Melbourne will host the Socceroos' remaining 2010 World Cup home qualifying matches, with Australia's game against fellow Group A favourite Japan to be played at the MCG.

Sydney will host the Socceroos' matches against Uzbekistan on April 1, and Bahrain on June 10, though which stadiums will be used has not been decided.

The re-match of Australia's 2006 World Cup finals showdown with Japan will be played on June 17 at the MCG.

"This is the final match for the Socceroos in round four of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and the one that could determine whether we qualify directly for the World Cup or not,'' Football Federation Australia chief executive Ben Buckley said.

Sydney hosted the Socceroos' last blockbuster World Cup home qualifier against Uruguay in November 2005, when John Aloisi's penalty sent Australia to the World Cup finals for the first time.
Brisbane is preparing to host Australia's Group A clash with Qatar at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night. The Socceroos, who are currently second in Group A, must finish first or second to earn direct qualification to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Are Bahrain actually going to play this time??? Last time they spent more time on the ground or being stretchered off the field than actually playing

I predict we will already have qualified by the time the Japan game comes around. Another damp squib like the China game.

Let the Tards have it

I'm heading up in the morning for the game.

I just got my ticket online. For those of you that believe in PAX, it's 33322.

It won't sell out, but I'll be disappointed if it's not close to sold out.

It's good to know that the national team can find huge support in the north against low opponents without 'big names'.  The wider interest seems to mirror my own. I don't care if Qatar isn't Brazil, if we field mcdonald not kewell (the talk of no big names is silly). I am well excited about this match, all socceroos matches. Love it.

The Socceroos will soon rival the cricket team for the spot of most supported national team.
Is it just me or aussie cricketers not cool?
I think it has something to do with having contracts to play for Australia. In football your form needs to be top to secure a position. The turn over of players has each one appreciate it more. Whereas in cricket matt hayden has long spells of poor form and still gets his paycheck, I think it is a bit unsavoury.

Nope, is just you.... It is a totally different structure to professional football.

Two words... John Aloi$i

That is club, he had been absent from the roos.

I must admit cricket has losts its gloss for me in the past few years. I guess there is not so much of a contest in it. Used to love it...

I think Group A Australia, Japan and Uzbekistan will progress and group B- South Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia. With the Saudi's playing NZ for last spot at world cup! NZ will take it to!
