ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Are we getting screwed by Bluetongue Stadium?

I've sat on the lower eastern side for the last 3 seasons and take it from me it ain't comfortable during summer afternoon games.Even with 7 pm ko's you are still squinting into the setting sun until after half time.A couple of times it's actually been so hot the kids have been lying down in the ailes for some relief. We're moving to the other side next season for that reason.

And anyway it's more important to be heard than it is to be seen.Being loud and intimidating to the opposition is more important than looking pretty on the telly imo.

Remembering it was a dead-rubber, cold, midweek, player and supporter morale at an all-time low,  etc. etc. blah blah...
The size of the bay 1 crew on Tues was probably still smaller than the smallest bay 16 crew we would've hoped to see at any stage during a season.
However on the TV coverage I reckon it sounded louder and fuller "when we got going".
(Admittedly there were long silent lulls and minimal repetition - a result of having only one small group).
Still, for the 15 seconds or so when each chant was being sung it wasn't only clear but sounded  more ... gutsy? (for lack of a better word)

If we could fill bays 1&2 at some stage during a season, the volume just might drown out all the general chatter, girly squealing, and "mariners - clap clap clap" with something resembling the noise of a football crowd.

IMO, even if the bays behind the goals were all empty and we didn't get on TV once, as long as the sound was creating an atmosphere no-one would be saying "geez, the marinators' numbers are really dwindling"

I'm usually in Bay 6 and often cannot hear the marinators. If the move is made to Bay 1/2 I think you would find that you would get a lot of vocal support from the western concourse -  combined with a bit of roof cover and singing across the ground  rather than at Point Frederick (where you can be heard clearly) and you will have a lot louder noise.

If that's what you do  ;)

You can't blame people for not joining into a chant when they can't here you. The point was that if they can here you they will join in with you.

BTW I stood and sang with the Marinators during the CWC games. I only moved because I would like to see more of the game and with my eyesight Bay 16 was not the go

Why dont the Marinators go where the current away supporters sit?
In Bay1 or 2 you will not be seen by TV cameras and will lose the affect of having a passionate supporter group.

This obsession some seem to have with "getting on TV" is downright weird.... The Cove, BWB, The Den, Yellow Fever, whatever Adelaide call themselves and the Glory Boys are fine with not getting on TV that much during the natural course of play, i.e. not when the camera specifically pans over to them - who _honestly_ gives a shit what the TV audience thinks??

And the "night games" comment with regards to sitting on the Eastern side as opposed to where we were the other night - the sun doesn't actually go away until about 7.30, 8pm from the change to daylight savings onwards - 7pm kickoffs still equal sunlight until around about, or even after half time (and all pre-game for those who go into the bay early).  We've seen the detrimental effect that has on everyone in Newcastle.

Western >>>> Eastern

P.S.  Bulldogs in town on Saturday night ay??  Board up the windows and hide your daughters.   ;)

can i go first?
