ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Best of luck to him if that's the case. Low transfer fee but at least we get him for the season. Hopefully there are flow on clauses

A little birdie told me not to be surprised if the Mariners confirm that a deal has been struck with Dortmund in the next few days. The fee will be in the order of $135K rather than $350K. And yes, we will have his services for the coming season.

Any idea if there are sell on or contract upgrade clauses

I dont know about that MF. I doubt it though. When I enquired about the transfer fee, hoping that it was around the $350K mark, the tone in my source's voice seemed resigned to the fact that $135K was as much as we were going to get out of the deal. He basically said that the club wasn't in a particularly strong bargaining position. With only one year left on his contract, apparently Musti's agent was prepared to have him sit out the season if it came to that (source's words, not mine).

"We wish Musti all the best as he continues his international football education and I know that in the meantime the Mariners will be the focus of his attention and hard work for the next 12 months. We have agreed that when he returns from his exciting European career, it will be to play for the Mariners again.”

Interesting last sentence!!

I'm sure that last sentence is just a good will gesture on behalf of the Amini camp. I find it difficult to believe we could write that condition into any contract, although I must admit that it would've been handy if H Kewell had done something similar :piralaugh:

I see there is no mention of money in the press release. It indicates to me that the transfer fee is indeed on the lower side of peoples expectation.

If as part of the loan arrangement Dortmund is paying his wage, it's as good as a fee.

That's some very tough competition... but I think a year of first team experience in the A-league will give him an edge over a few of them sitting on the bench and playing reserves in Germany.
Especially seeing as how we proved the A-league is competitive against even the Champions of Scotland. Very impressive :)

If I recall correctly, Musti is on sweet FA. I'll bet my left testicle that we will continue to pay him what we would be paying him even if there was no contract with Dortmund.

For their part, Dortmund will be kicking in some coin,to boost Musti's pay packet, in excess of what we will be paying him.

The net result... we dont save money on his wages but Musti gets more.

Keep in mind... we get the services of a Dortmund quality player for next season for... sweet FA!!! :pirashoot: When you think about it like that, that has to be one of the sweetest deals in A-league history.

I heard $650,000 - how that is made up I don't know. It could be an amount plus a value on the loan deal.

Hope you are right ... my understanding and its going off what I can recall from over 12 months ago .. is Musty is on 40, 000 per year with us...

If Dortmund do pay his wages it does free up a little... BTW if you add your 650, 000 + the 40, 000 it starts to get near what we asked...

I guess there is no way of finding out unless PT decides to tell us about the deal...
