Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I think it's genius. Not only is he a marque he is a Liverpool legend. I'm not a Liverpool fan but from what I can tell they have the a massive fan base in Australia. Probable the biggest for a non Australian club.

So to tap into this fan base is huge for us and the A-League. Will hopefully convert a few eurosnobs to the A-League as well.

That's prety darn close to how I see the formation with Garcia in the side.

A 4-2-1-3, with LG sitting in front of the x2 DM's but slightly deeper than the front attacking 3 who are flatter.

In behind them he can be pulling those strings creating for those attacking front x3 (which was all we wanted out of Caceras, adio$) & also coming into the 18yrd box to add his own magical contributions.

However, until his fitness is up to scratch I think you'll see him coming off the bench for either Austin or Ferreira.

Gives him some safety in the wider position to come to grips with the Aus physicality that all foreigners are quite surprised by. Allows him to NOT have the shit kicked out of him by a sundry of CB's trying to welcome him to the League, as opposed to instead having him centrally or 'playing him up front' to start off.

That would be a dumb move in my reckoning.

Fantástico coup for the club, can't wait! !!!

can't see Garcia starting for over a month . I think he'll be primed as a come on
in the 65th , if close and turn the game .
it'll be interesting if he gets the protected species status that ADP had .

He'll be slow, but he'll see the game three moves ahead, and he'll read defenders three moves ahead (same as ADP, which is why ADP won so many fouls; he'd sucker the defender into a challenge and fall over his leg).

I like these little insights from Walmsley:
Despite his age, Walmsley is confident the 37-year old is up to the rigours of the A-League.

“He’s been very active,” he said.

“He had an injury, that’s the only reason why [he wasn’t playing] but he’s in incredible condition. He’s not really that old, he’s 37.

“And the type of player he is, the type of player that gets in the pockets and plays smart, we’re not going to be asking him to be running him box-to-box.

“We’re going to be asking him to make a smart contribution on the pitch and then at training giving everything to the likes of Liam Rose and the other young boys in the team.”

The Mariners plan to play Garcia as their number 10.

“We’ve got great wingers this year and we need somebody who can see the pitches and play the ball forward early into good areas,” Walmsley said.

“With his new vision and two feet, he can pick the ball up from anywhere and put it anywhere. He fits the bill on the pitch and off the pitch.”

Well worth the risk imo. The boys are going to be buzzing, probably play with more energy, boost their confidence with him on the park and they will probably be trying to impress him, and that's all without LG doing anything. Add his skills to the mix on the pitch and things should go well. We should see a boost in attendance too.
Naysayers in the media and other clubs can go f**k themselves.

LG - life's good!

BrisRecky

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
im not a liverpool fan by any stretch of the imagination..well, except for the music, BUT, if nothing else the young boys will learn a massive amount...if they dont pick his brain they need shooting, so all i can say is HOLA MI AMIGO

"and two feet" No wonder there's so much hype.
Scoring all those goals while he only had one foot? I had no idea.
Imagine what he can do now he has two!!!
