I'm sorry but taking out your defensive midfielder who has premier league experience, for your one season wonder (as much as I love him, he's only been great for one season) 21 yr old, to play against some of the best players you've ever come up against just doesn't seem right.

Monty will do the job like he has all year. Without Monty in front (just like Rostyn last year) our defence would not be as good as it has been.

I see the points but I am also not saying to take out Monty - A heavy defensive presence - Use Trent man on man - Also Trent has a great passing game - He may be 21 but it's the CC way to give the kids a go. Could also play him on top of the circle on the box two to three foot in front of the back 4 (the reverse of a sweeper - A front sweeper if u like). Like Basketball changing your defence can cause the opposition to have a heart attack if they can't read it or aren't prepared for it. However it can be ineffective if you get it wrong which in football is the big risk as goals are hard to pull back if u make a mistake - But like Arnie did in the last game he went for something different when he thought it was required.

Anyway was just a thought for discussion - If we stick to our usual formation it will be interesting to see how we go - Went pretty well against Kashiwa Reysol (or who ever they are) until we went a goal down - When we went man to man over the whole park we got ripped a new one (probably haven't played that style enough to use it against quality). Which does lead to your opinion not to change. Any how worth the thought to give us something to do until Wednesday

I see where your coming from.

Would be interesting to see Sainsbury in the midfield. He does love to get forward

I don't understand why you'd play Sainsbury in midfield for the ball-playing presence and not play Bozanic - was the GF so long ago that everyone forgot how he went?

Its not ball playing Big Al is talking about, its man playing.

But agree totally. The Boz is our man when it comes to ball playing deep midfielders. I love the speed he does stuff at too. Just picks the tempo right up.

CENTRAL Coast Mariners’ AFC Champions League kits for their forthcoming two-legged tie against China’s Guangzhou Evergrande will feature a new sponsor with Tibet 5100 Spring Water signing on to display on the front of the team’s playing shirts.
Listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Company Code: 1115.HK), Tibet 5100 Spring Water is a leading provider of premium bottled mineral water in China.

Nice cash injection to cover the expenses we don't usually have at this time of year. Be curious if they sell any with this sponsorship, would make a great collectors item!

Yeah was saying as more of a man on man marker or top of the box goalie if you like - Was mentioning his passing ability as a side benefit of not just being a butcher (which is not his style). He is more of a thief in the night cutting out all those passes. Was not wanting him to come much further than a couple of meters in front of the back line - Bozanic you would want getting Trent's out let pass so he can then hit the Duke.

One more sleep - So can give Arnie back his job now

Guangzhou Evergrande have arranged for 28 bus loads of fans to travel from Sydney to Gosford for the game. My dodgy maths says that's around 1450 or so Guangzhou fans on their way up - around 4-5 bays.

Wowzers.

They had that many bays allocated in the seating chart. So must have had something up their sleeve from day 1

Reminds me of the day I went to watch Australia play China in basketball at the Sydney Entertainment Centre - Right next to China Town - Sold out - 8 to 2 Chinese Australians to non Chinese Australians.

How many in team colours though - Could be a few ring in's - Maybe that's why both stands are open - One for our Chinese guests & one for us.

Hope their thirsty - We have some lovely spring water they can buy when they get back to China

Kicking goals already - Well done management - $10 tickets followed by an Asian exclusive deal for AFC CL. Great achievement.

Interesting they are being used to get to the China audience but hey they still had to pay - Smart move by both parties. Maybe can be our shirt sponsor for next years AFC CL as well for the whole tournament.
Having spent the whole of our A League existence trying to stay above water we are now advertising the stuff!

Speaking of the Socceroos, I'm not particularly impressed that they're playing a training game against Sydney Olympic at the same time as our match tomorrow...

If Wigan can beat Man City then there is no reason why the Mariners can’t beat Guangzhou.

Wigan beat money bags Man City because they played their own game and played as a team; they worked for each other and refused to be overawed by the supposed super stars against them. They attacked throughout, pushing the ball wide constantly whilst defending in depth. When City’s greater individual skills threatened to break through, the Wigan players stood up and with guts, determination and desperation kept them at bay.

I don’t care that Guangzhou has a Brazilian I have never heard of who earns more money in a week than Gosford Centrelink pays out in benefits in a year. The simple question is that if he is that good why is he playing in China? It isn’t simply the money, it is because he is no longer good enough to play in the elite leagues of the world. The Mariners have no reason to be afraid; if they play their own game, play on the front foot, and believe in themselves they can score a famous victory.
