ADP Match

Forgetting the result from last night. This is the first XI team that many Sydney supporters think they should play out of their 4.5 - 5million squad.

-------------------Yau

Abbas-----------Del Piero-----------Emerton

--------Reid---------------Culina--------

Fabio-------Griffiths------Bosschart-----Grant

-----------------Ivan

Try to compare that team man for man against the Mariners and the Mariners would have the better player in most positions. Add to the fact that our eleven best are also a better eleven (i.e. we operate as a team) and they really have recruited poorly.

I was watching this game on a 34cm TV with poor reception so couldn't tell who was who.

Loved the skills we displayed across the park and certainly loved the score line.

I just have one question; what was going on in defense/midfield with the cheap turnovers at the wrong end of the field? We've had great defense all year but seemed to make a bunch of silly mistakes. If we did that against another team who had a defense of their own (unlike Bling FC) we could have been in big trouble.

The cheap turnovers were a result of Sydney's tactic of very fast, aggressive and high pressing to stop us playing out. Such a simple tactic, but can be very effective. And we fell victim to it a few times before we truly woke up...

THEN WE MADE THEM PAY.

Problem is if you want to race in and press at your highest speed all the time, you will likely create real problems for who and how do I pass to, with a lack of time on the ball and closed down space... But if your players are not equally adept at reading the game and de-accelerating and then re accelerating, you also become easy to go past. NEVER seen us skin and slip by so many players in a single game before ever. :eek:verhead:

The tactic is a potentially good choice against us. But like any tactic, it also requires considerable practice to be truly proficient at.
Barca or even Roar for the last two seasons both play excellent pressing games. But they also have the right cattle. Players like Murdocca, McKay, Smith, Berisha all have great acceleration, can turn on a dime and run all day.... And I don't need to site examples for Barca I'm sure B)

If, when teams press, you can give the ball to Michael McGlinchey they will never get it off him if he decides to keep it...

What an amazing game and what a result.

Firstly, i have to say, how pathetic were Sydney.

Once we applied some pressure they crumbled like Paul Briggs after a tap from Danny Green.

They were gutless.

I thought we were a bit careless with our passes at times but we were also so confident that even if they had scored 5 we would have scored 6.

Ryan 7. Not to blame for either goal.
Bojic 8. Really good maruading performance. When Pedj and Rose are it that form....look out!
Dutchy 7. Easy day at the office although a little slow to react them we gifted them the first goal.
Tesco 6. His first bad game of the year.
Rose 7.5. Great game. Thats what i want to see. Back to his brilliant best.
Sterj 7. His best game so far and unlucky not to score.
Hutcho 7. Did his job.
Monty 7. Indentical to Hutcho with slightly quicker reaction time. Together they bullied Sydney out of the game and allowed Rojic and weemac to dominate.
WeeMac 9. Superb. My MOM. Snuffed out Sydney hopes with a brilliant 4th goal.
Rojic 8.5. His best game in a yellow shirt. Brilliant.
McBreen 8. A superbly taken penalty and two great poachers goals. A lesson in what a 9 is all about.

MOM
3pts WeeMac
2pt Rojic
1pt Macca

Bring on the Nix

Sorry, an overcitesitesyteSIGHT on my behalf. :'(

Besides, now Dibo's back, surely it's his job to restore grammatical law and order in these here parts.

Boy am I in troubbblee BUTTT I know why now....

I have studied ... Commercial Law... Contract Law... Corporation Law ... Accounting Law [there is such a thing its called the standards] ... Taxation Law ... but never Grammatical Law and Order... and pay folk to read my drafts and correct em...

Throw in I can't spell to save my life ...and I can see all is lost.

I will leave bloodied and busied ............HHHHHHHMMMMMM but the blood and pride of a Midfielder knows no shame and when the midfielder's blood is stirred the passion will rise to the top and I will nod off to sleep into the land of nod and just ignore all and rant on...

BTW welcome back Dibo... what about Mariner Mick anyone heard if he may return ...

AFC youth championship qualifiers. Told my girl last night on our 30 min visit and she fell off her chair.
What about ADP? didn't he score? OMG! He's gonna pack up and go home. She loves his style. just wearing the wrong colours.
Sounds like a great match, had tickets but taped it anyway.

This has to bump up the crowds and the momentum for the team.
I wonder if GA has any regrets about not going to Sydney now...... :piralaugh:

I love this moment from the match.

Rogic waltzes through to score our fifth goal, and while it was beer shower time again, and everyone was going mental, just check out PP nonchalantly sipping his brew.
