I reckon Yorke will probally end up playing in a number 10 role - an attacking mid/ striker

it will take all of GVE's fortitude given that yorke wants to play the holding midfielder role - the one he plays for his national team

Source or just bullshit?

I think its bullshit. The jets would need to pay a transfer and also Yorke wont be able to fit under the cap for next year. He has always stated he wanted a 2 year deal

On the issue of the salary cap, if a club says to a player they are no longer wanted for the rest of the contract, they'd still have to pay him out for this season at least, correct?

If the Jets had a player on a 2 year deal for $100K a season, wouldn't they have to pay him at least $100K for this season if the player turns up for training and fulfils his obligations?

And in that case, if the Jets pay up a player, then that has to account for that season's salary cap?

Now on the issue of marquees, surely they can only have 1 Marquee player per season (and also a Youth Marquee)?

Seems a rort of the system if clubs like the Jets are allowed to get a marquee on spec., then 6 or 8 rounds into the comp. turn around to the player and say, "here's your salary for the year, you are no longer required" and THEN go out and hunt down another supposedly big name player and have his salary exempted too.

that is all correct

the jets have also done some dodgey accounting with milligan in that he will be paid far more this season than next, thus keeping room under the cap for next season

they may do the same with yorke - pay him a fortune this season as marquee and a pittance next season as a squaddie, thus evening out of two seasons for dwight and giving cap space

this is an anomalie that must be fixed

How can you fix it though when you have a salary cap? As long as the figures add up and the player signs on the dotted line, its legal, right?

Apparently Dwight has said no to the Scum because the ACL games will clash with the WCQ for Trinidad and Tobago, on NBN before.

Back to the drawing baord it seems for the gypsies.

Tbh no they don't

I can confirm this.... Sydney call them Scum too.

I think even Adelaide do too, and also Perth & Wellington after those last two games.

Melbourne, I think, call Adelaide scum...but we all now they are tards.

Costanzo: I Could Be Next... 442

EXCLUSIVE: Out of contract at season's end, Adelaide favourite Ange Costanzo says he'll have no qualms about leaving his hometown club for another A-League side or even for Asia.
"Ideally, Adelaide would be my number one choice but as you know in football, sometimes you have to move and I'd look forward to a new challenge. That could be a possibility. And Asia is a possibility as well," Costanzo told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"I'm a professional footballer. And there are other teams in the A-League who are playing in the [Asian] Champions League and two new clubs as well...but I'm just concentrating on the next couple of games."

After Adelaide's Club World Cup campaign, Costanzo, 32, will sit down with the club to assess where they are headed with their roster for season five of the A-League.

"If so, that's football, you move on and find another home," he added.

Adelaide have already brought in new defensive blood with Sydney FC defender Iain Fyfe returning to South Australia to ink a three-year deal this week.

"Fyfey has won championships so he brings that winning mentality with experience and he's going to be a handy acquisition.

"I'm pretty happy with the way I've been playing and the partnership with big Sasa has really been good. I'm feeling healthy, fit and raring to go.

"I've had some rest after the Central Coast game. The whole team was mentally drained but we've freshened up in the last two weeks."

One player definitely not staying is Jason Spagnuolo, who has negotiated an early release from his contract. The wide midfielder has struggled to get game time at Hindmarsh over the last year or so. Costanzo said it's disappointing.

"I was surprised and I'm disappointed." he said. "He's a fantastic guy and a fantastic player."

Around 10 United players are out of contract next year.

"Jason's here till the end of the season but like a number of us, we could be off as well... so we'll just have to wait and see."

Id have him at Mariners. Experienced in ACL, solid centre back, id sign him in a heartbeat
