ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A league media deal thread

Where would streaming rights go then when the paramount era ends, SBS hopefulyl?
SBS is a nice thought but they don’t have the financial backing to make an offer attractive enough, or to keep the league viable.

Personally would love Optus, better cut-through to those who also subscribe to it for EPL, and a much cleaner UX on the app. Ideally would have a FTA component in there as well. Much more expensive than P+ though.

Not gonna happen any time soon anyway - APL are wed to P+ until at least the end of the 25/26 season, with a 3 year option at the end of the deal. Viacom CBS also have a shareholding in the APL (though I wonder how they’re feeling about that right now 🙃🙃).

I don’t currently have Optus but would like for a league to go to it for that same reason and for members to be able to get a solid discount when signing up for it

I think Optus would be a good fit, don’t see any other viable options other than staying with P-. Foxtel can go and jump IMO.

I was working at Optus when they got the blind bid for EPL rights.

And they overpaid quite significantly based on next competitor.

I remember people going nuts, then the small delay as people had phone notifications on for goals, etc.

But fair play to them they came up with solutions pretty quickly and got a good product up and running.

As mentioned having the A-League on Optus next to EPL would be a great idea to splice through the next gen that have this connection to EPL.

And if the Mariners led production based A-league trend spits out Aussie youngsters into the EPL then that next gen might have that awesome proud local feeling we have now watching our young’s guns move to Europe and follow their results and movements.

I hope the League see the future potential of hopefully choosing this option rather than taking a potentially easy option.

Have an accountant long time mate who has a client deep in ch 10 / P+.

He says P+ n 10 are going nowhere do not plan to go after NRL or AFL or Union.

Further FA are working on a new deal with APL getting somehow involved to the extent that APL are relaxed about their future.

He said his client said P+ / 10 are determined to make it work.

No idea what all that means in practice but it appears we have P + / 10 for quite a while

Spending money on production would help.
P+ have the FA Cup so will be keen to add content

Are the championship & league 1 rights taken here? Between the Wrexham factor and a multitude of Australian players on the move I wonder if that would be cost effective to pick up or sub license if it’s with someone like bein

I have no issues with P+, good content, cheap and as long as you have a great NBN service, the quality is fine
It's definitely improved from where they started. I think they have pause and rewind now. Camera work still not as good as it was with kayo but it's half the price so...

Some of the tv and movie content is actually pretty good too.

The group they were using went bust. For the last few rounds and presumably this season they used the same group as they did with Foxtel so I'd imagine that aspect will improve. Wont change things like the placement of the cameras in Adelaide after the stadium changes but that's not an APL or production thing.

But they still don’t have fast forward yet.
If I rewind I believe I can fast forward to current. Main issues I have are:
No way to start over without jumping to live first.
The program abruptly ends after a set time even if you watch from the start. Most obvious if you go back a long way not 20m here or there.
Related to the point above you are still limited to when the replay is available. So if we play at 5 and I'm home at 8 I probably can't get on to the replay for a few more hours.

It's getting better but needs to continue with steps forward, with the uncertainty though who knows if they'll do the work.
