ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

After a world-wide search, of course
Correct.

Charlesworth found TW parked in the space right next to him.

Monty however, is 1 row & 2 spaces over in the carpark.

When Charlesworth is asked why he travelled such a considerable distance through the carpark, he stated he was just exercising 'due dlligence'.

. well there has been quite a bit of activity on this thread in the last week or so (so forgive me if i end up with a few consecutive posts

. firstly, before people jump to certain conclusions: we did renew as soon as possible - so we are already locked in for next season

. and this is despite last year's performances and the (ahem ...) bullshit that membership prices have dropped*

* yes, technically we paid less this year than last ($10 for the two of us) ... but we have 4 less home games (for the two of us). gold membership cost per game last year $19.62, this year $22.73 ... sorry, but to me an almost 16% increase does not warrant declarations of reduced cost (dollar terms there is a marginal saving, but value terms are way off). please note i have not included any of the 'away games' in this calculation

. i genuinely hate this kind of thing ... i may be stoopid, but do i have to be treated that way?

Memberships are available for the two games in Canberra:

Reserved: $60 adult, $30 junior/student, $120 2A/1J, $150 2A/2J, $180 2A/3J
GA: $40 adult, $20 junior/student, $80 2A/1J, $100 2A/2J, $120 2A/3J

. yet no mention of how much it will cost for full time members to attend ... if they are that way inclined

. $30 a ticket doesn't stack up (compared to normal membership prices) especially when it will be impossible for many to attend more than the one game. the first game is doable with an overnight stay ... but the second with a 4+ hour drive at the end and school and/or work the next day is not practical or safe

. this is aside from any political decisions people may choose to make in supporting (or not) a canberra game

Also worth remembering to offset it, CCM full season memberships grant entry to Hunter for the 2 derbies there.

. that is a completely different initiative ... and i hope that not too many people see it otherwise

Not so fast Timmah.

Key bit is obviously:

'"The initial discussions were about having two games, but the way the budget fell with the government was that there was only money for one," Mielekamp said.

"The Adelaide game is a genuine financial risk for us, but we felt it showed that it isn't just a cash grab from us. It's a strategic play to grow football in the Canberra region, we want to do the right thing for Canberra.

"If we get it right, it will set up a long-term platform for a relationship between the Mariners and Canberra.

"We've got some sponsor interest, we're going to launch a two-game membership for people in Canberra and then we're going to create a pathway for the best players to come through our system.

"We want to do as much grassroots work as possible ... there are some exciting things that we're building on. We genuinely want to make sure we do everything we can to make it work. It's not a one off."'

Why take a financial risk to build an audience and commit to building an audience over several years unless there's consideration being given to moving? This is essentially 'venue-splitting'.

. and i know that Shaun has since replied with some of the reasoning behind the decision, but that won't change my comments ... moving is not so much the issue for me (perhaps i am an optimist after all?) - but venue-splitting always concerns me because it dilutes the offering (and hence the club's appeal in both markets). the 'relationship' can only grow if the benefits continue to grow

. i was told by Shaun's predecessor (groovy Bruce) that we would only move games if we were to make $x (i won't state the amount here because i always thought it was bullshit)

. then we were only moving games for a significant financial benefit

. now we are moving games (as quoted and despite Shaun's reasoning on here) at financial risk. this is the message the average punter receives ... but is unfortunately the message that potential venues and sponsors receive also

. so now that the club has shown a willingness to move games at their "financial risk" surely our bargaining power is diminished (unless it becomes HUGELY successful) ... why would someone continue to rent a cow if they can get the milk for free?

With our first game at home not till round 3 there should be no problems with membership delivery this year.
