ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

'Will decide'; language used to describe a decision hasn't been made.

'unveiled'; language used to describe that decision HAS been made.

........ I'm confused.
The OSC asked for people to suggest a walk-out song late last week. Presumably they have taken that feedback to the club, and that song will be played for the first time on the 10th.

The OSC AREN'T the one & only voice of the members and or fans. CCM shouldn't just take their advice or consul as being whole and encompassing

"We want our members to have a bigger voice and truly engage in the club.......

... genuine and regular influence in decision-making processes.

Havent heard JACK-SHIT about these decisions , especially about a 'theme-song' for MY beloved club.

Hey Shaun, if your 'fair-dinkum' about engagement, you've had my mobile number for the last 10 years - JUST RING ME!

Don't have time for a chat? Txt me or flick me an email, you've got my email address as well.

Or better yet, Come on HERE!

Before the Mariners even kicked a ball THIS Forum was created by passionate FANS for fellow FANS who love the Yellow & the Blue.

It's been succesfully running for nearly
11 Years, ........the OSC's been around what? 1.5yrs ???

In the early halcyon years, this forum was the ONE & ONLY place to engage with fellow CCM supporters, we had big numbers on here contributing.

The Management at CCM had a somewhat disdain for both the forum & the 'MARINATORS', it boiled down to the club not liking 'negative' chatter directed at the club, some warranted, most constructive to improve 'everything & anything'

The Marinators were in those early years, loosely organized without a structured group (which by forum banter is what everybody wanted) but finally succumbed to becoming an official 'sub-club' within the Central Coast Leagues Club, with membership and elected President & committee ALL to gain respect from CCM for better 'fan engagement'.

CCM failed to meet their end of the bargain (back then) to improve things & the Marinators petered out of existence and the numbers in BAY16 were representative of this, in fact club memberships ALL declined.

This forum isnt 'the voice' either, our numbers arent a shadow of what once was, BUT it IS another platform to 'engage' with fans/members.

We live in a 'techa-nogical' age, Facebook, Twitter (which I dont partake) Email, SMS, CCMFANS.NET :) can all be used to communicate with every single member instead of just a small group like the OSC to find out what ALL Members want or like.

Then again Shaun, like I said, you could just pick up the phone ..........

To be fair, the OSC is probably more representative of the overall member/fan base than this forum - or the Yellow Army - is. You can take these numbers with a grain of salt, but they have around 1400 likes on Facebook. If - for argument's sake - 75% of those are currently members of the club then that's around 1050 members - about a quarter of the total right now. In any case I wouldn't consider them to be a small group.

There would also undoubtedly be overlap between the membership of this forum and the OSC.

The OSC might have 1400 likes on Facebook but I suspect their membership is a lot smaller. I am a member - but many like me just pay the money to support the effort. I suspect that this forum is just as representative of Mariners fans and members as the OSC.

I'll have to correct you on that one, it was MarinerMick and Kevrenor who got the original forum going. I worked with Mr Celery on the website, then we decided to put a forum on the site. Dibo also credit for being a moderator since very early on.

But thanks for the acknowledgement. My goal has always been for this to be more than "just a forum" and over the years it has gone through various transformations. The last few it has been just a forum though as other commitments have taken priority.

I shouldn't say it's just a forum. The forum is just a piece of software but the important part is the fans who come here and contribute every day. There are still many more who read the forum too. We might have had our numbers diluted by social media and (various issues over the years) but there is still a place for sites like this.

We (marinators/ccmfans.net) have never had direct contact with the club and after the "retro round" we organised a couple of years ago, where the official supporters club got thanked and we didn't hear a word, it just got a bit hard to get motivated to do any more.

It's a shame because there are plenty of fans here who want to get involved more. There are plenty of fans who haven't heard of the site or the official supporters club who want to get involved too.

probably more representative of the overall member/fan base.... around 1400 likes on Facebook.

Facebooks likes, seriously

It is neither 'the more' nor 'less' of a way/ or means of representing overALL member's, it's just one avenue & 'Likes' are a pretty sub-standard form of communication. That was the whole point of my post.

If - for argument's sake - 75% of those are currently members of the club then that's around 1050 members - about a quarter of the total right now.

1 in 4, meh.

1 in 4 Aussies 'Liking' Bill Shorten wont get him into the Lodge, thank god.

If the Mariners were to base their decisions on a "1 in 4 basis", like for instance this 'theme-song', they'd be successful in failing to listen, let alone ask what 75% of their members think.

And using your arguments sake, they'd be listening/making decisions about the club from the other 25% on Facebook who aren't,
"paid-up - put their money where'it counts" MEMBERS!

In any case I wouldn't consider them to be a small group.

In comparison to the total membership THEY ARE small.
Just like the Yellow Army,
Just like CCMFANS.NET,
Just like the 'Platinum prawn sandwich' brigade, some of whom don't own smart phones and still send in their membership forms via Australia Post.

When it comes to CCM saying that "they now want to engage in a communicative dialogue" with the members (*fans) then it should be an ALL or Nothing approach, otherwise what's the point listening to a 'minority'.

Again the point of my post.

(*fans) Imo, its members and members only that should really count. The proposed voting IS the way to stop things like a potentially lame 'theme-song' becoming set in stone because of a few Facebook Likes.

Hi Rowdy

Things haven't been that elaborate. I have listened to as many members as I could and when there was a single member who gave an idea that I truly believe was the right thing to do and was also something that actually could be done, then that's how some decisions have been made. A classic example is that one member and only one member made a very specific point at a Welcome Wednesday function in Wyong that we just had our ticket prices all wrong. The next day we started to research and understand if this was correct and that has lead to 6 games including our first home game having tickets as little as $15.

Not all decisions will be made this way and not every idea can be achieved no matter how right it might actually be. Just know that we genuine want to have a better approach and listening is a big part of that.

The club is a work in progress and on a journey to rebuild.

EDIT: My 'correct' joining date is actually just after the 2005/2006 season kicked-off. The above date is just the transfer of all the original members of 'The Marinators Forum' on the old 'Proboards' forum to this new ccmfans.net forum in. (If you check a few of the other members profiles on here here you'll notice similar joining dates, all around the months in late 2007 fr/ the switchover ;))

Well said Rowdy.

Without wishing to offend anyone as I'm sure that they are doing their best., I find the very name of the OSC divisive.

More official? Are the rest of us unofficial. They don't represent me and I can tell you honestly I don't know more than one member. - I bet I know or have met just about everyone on here.

I applaud Sean for coming on here and this is better for understanding the views of fans than, say, Facebook (read the comments if you don't believe me)

Are you arguing that we should have 4 votes to every one else's one?

I like the way you think. ;)

Haha :D . Nah never in a million.

Albeit 'Prawn Sandwiches' are x4 times the price of a 'Meat Pie'

A Platinum membership isn't x4 times the co$t of a Navy membership. ;)

'One Membership, One Vote'

Elitism at CCM, the community club?
Again, never in a million.

Maybe more akin to a Clive Palmer owned club :p
