well, what should I say about the match?!

actually, it was exactly the same as the match a week prior away to Frankfurt.

we had a real good 1st half and scored the goal which was totally deserved
the goal itself was awesome...Vidosic got the ball right out of the box, got through 2 Ingolstadt players and shot - the keeper had no chance

the 2nd half was completely different to the 1st. we actually had some good chances to get 2:0 up but Eigler just scored at the post and a Vidosic' header was on the outside of the net behind the post...

there was a break in the match afet 60mins when we started getting under pressure. Ingolstadt had some good chances but missed twice standing alone in front of the goal, fortunately for us.

the last minute and 3mins of stoppage time were ridiculous: we gained a lot of corners but didn't perform them as everybody is used to. 2 players were at the corner and just passed the ball in front of the corner flag in order to let the time pass...actually, nobody knew why there were 3mins of stopage time

Dario Vidosic had a good match, he is Man of the Match  :)

there are 4 games to go, we are now 3rd but Duisburg is playing Fuerth tonight (Monday, 8.15pm), if Fuerth wins we will be 4th again with 2 points behind...but next Sunday is DERBY TIME ;D

that's what 442 writes about him

Dario Back With A Bundes-bang
YOUNG Aussie Dario Vidosic fired FC Nrnberg ever closer to a return to the German Bundesliga with the only goal in a 1-0 win over FC Ingolstadt 04 on Sunday.

The former Queensland Roar attacker scored in the 23rd minute of Sunday's Bavarian derby match at the Frankenstadion as Nrnberg move into third spot on the 2.Bundesliga table.

Vidosic, 22, had scored his first goal for the club in a crucial 1-0 victory over league leaders SC Freiburg barely six weeks ago and he proved the hero again for Nrnberg in just his first start for the Bavarians.

The Australian got his chance in the starting eleven up front for Nrnberg after injury and suspension ruled out regulars Mike Frantz and Marek Mintal respectively.

And Vidosic made it count when he controlled Stefan Reinhartz's 23rd minute corner, before slamming a shot past Ingolstadt keeper Michael Lutz and under the bar.

The Australia youth international could have doubled his tally later in the first-half when his fantastic shot went through a crowd and into the back of the net, only to be ruled out by the referee for an infringement which caused mass protests from Nrnberg.

After the break Nrnberg kept up the search for a second, with Christian Eigler going closest on 62 minutes.

As the game wore on though, Nrnberg's nerves began to be tested and on 70 minutes Ingolstadt's Tobias Fink put an effort just a few centimetres wide of the left post.

In the end Nrnberg did enough to claim their sixth win in their last seven matches and move into third place, ahead of Greuther Furth who play on Monday.

In Germany's 2.Bundesliga the top two sides, currently Freiburg (61 points) and FSV Mainz (54), gain direct promotion to the Bundesliga, whilst third spot, which Nrnberg (52) occupy at the moment, results in a playoff tie against the third last team in the Bundesliga for the right to play in the top flight next season.

IT'S DERBY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

today, the most important derby for the last 50 years is taking place. the result decides about whether the likeliness of getting promoted rises or if you have run out of any chances of getting promoted...

it's the 253rd derby that is played today between Fuerth and Nuremberg. it takes place in Fuerth in their little stadion called Playmobil-Stadion which hosts 15,700 people today

the team that is going to play is likely the same as last week as the same players as last week will miss again today. so Vidosic might get a starting spot

this is the first time since 2 years (the Cup final and the Cup semi final) that I am as excited as today before a match...

the match itself will take place under a lot of security issues, a lot of police will be present as the Ultras are going to have a 'march' through Fuerth to the stadium...

let's hope that we will be the team that takes home the 3 points!

today's motto is ( as Fuerth were insistent (?) that the match is played in Fuerth and not in Nuremberg as it normally is): 'For one it's the home match if the century. For the others it's just an away match made to a home match!'

Helpfully, St Pauli are leading Mainz 2-0. TUS Koblenz are also pushing Freiburg, but they're a fair way off at the front so it's kinda irrelevant.

A victory for the red and black would probably lob them into 2nd, 2 points clear of Mainz, 3 clear of Kaiserslautern and 4 clear of Fuerth. If Koblenz pull out a miracle it could have FCN only 6 points behind the league leaders, but it's probably done and dusted anyway.

1-1 it finishes, Mainz go down to St Pauli, Freiburg put another one into Koblenz to extend their lead at the top. FCN still third, behind Mainz, with Fuerth in hot pursuit and Kaiserslautern just behind. With 4 to play Freiburg must be immensely confident, and it's a complete minefield behind them.

SC Freiburg 61
FSV Mainz 05 54
1. FC Nrnberg 53
SpVgg Greuther Frth 52
1. FC Kaiserslautern 52

today's derby was one of the more interesting ones...
we could have easily been 2:0 down at half time but the ref was on our side, well in these 2 situations...he denied Fuerth 2 goals
but he also denied us 1 goal, so it was 0:0 at half time with Fuerth having some advantages

the 2nd half started really good, free kick and Vidosic scored his 3rd goal for us
but just 10mins later: we didn't get the ball out of the box so Fuerth equalized...
from that on the match was really open and every team had the chance to score a 2nd time, Vidosic could have  made it.....

all in all, the point is more valuable for us than for Fuerth :)

there were 15,700 people in the stadium today and some additional 16,000 went to the 'public viewing' (I know that this isn't the right word, but that's how we call it...) in the stadium in Nuremberg...

besides that you could see what the state does with all the taxes it gets...1,000 police men were in Fuerth today to make the derby safe and secure - what a waste of money as everything was really calm...

the next match day is on Tuesday and Wednesday this week with the following matches

Freiburg - Fuerth (hopefully, Freiburg will win)

Nuremberg - Osnabrueck (this has to be won as Osnabrueck is somewhere in the lower part of the table)

Aachen - Kaiserlautern

Mainz - Frankfurt

a lot to win and a lot to lose during the week...

we are playing on Wedensday, kick off is 5.30pm CET

come on freiburg, FCN, aachen and frankfurt.

aachen have had some good results and frankfurt more so, so it's not that unlikely.

3rd last matchday... we played Osnabrueck at home this afternoon at 5.30pm!
haven't been to the match but I watched it on tv instead

this match wasn't a good one but we won 2:0 which is the most important aspect

Mintal is back after his suspension and scored twice, once after a pass of Vidosic. As Boakye was back as well, Vidosic was ruled out of the starting XI but came on after an hour...he did a good job :)

the negative thing is that our last central defender is now injured as well, he did sth with his shoulder during a training session...

Mainz won 2:1 at home today and Freiburg played 0:0 against Fuerth

we are playing Rostock away on Sunday which is a very important match as they are playing against getting relegated

further matches on Sunday (2pm):

Fuerth - Mainz
Kaiserlautern - Duisburg
1860 - Aachen
Rostock - Nuernberg

the ladder looks like this after today's matches:

Freiburg 65 points
Mainz 57 points
Nuernberg 56 points
----------------------
Fuerth 53 points
Aachen 52 points
Kaiserslautern 52 points

the 3rd of the ladder has to play 2 play off matches against the 16th of Bundesliga 1

the last match day (May 24, 2pm) is

Nuernberg - 1860
Ahlen - Fuerth
Freiburg - Kaiserslautern
Aachen - Augsburg
Mainz - Oberhausen

I gather you're not taking the 7hr trip to Rostock? :p

I hope we repeat the dose from December - another 4-0 win while Mainz and Fuerth take points from one another would be good.

Is it still Borussia Moenchengladbach in 16th? Even if der club finishes 3rd, gladbach is destined to come back down - they're even more of a yo-yo team than Nuernberg.

no, Moenchengladbach isn't in 16th atm
but it is close there as well:

with just 2 matches to go

Frankfurt 33 points
Moenchengladbach 30 points
Bochum 28 points
------------------
Bielefeld 27 points
Cottbus 27 points
Karlsruhe 23 points

can't say who we might have to play at the end of May..doubt that it will be Karlsruhe - seems like Kenney will get relegated...

no, I haven't taken the trip to Rostock...if they had an airport with a flight to Nuremberg I would have gone...but they don't have a connection to Nuremberg

might watch the match on tv though

seems like our coach Oenning plays the same formation as on Wedensday, which means Vidosic on the bench

having a look on Bundesliga 1 - nothing is decided yet
Karslruhe won away to Bremen, Bielefeld, Moenchengladbach and Cottbus lost
so it is

Moenchengladbach 30 points
Bielefeld 27 points
Cottbus 27 points
Karlsruhe 26 points
