ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Really interesting interview with Ziggy on buzz sprout.com (Shim and Spider) where he speaks highly of mariners but non-committal about future. The podcast also says he is the Mariners 2019-20 medal winner (which I would completely agree with but has there been an announcement in this respect?). Worth a listen and fingers crossed he stays with the club!!!

The fact he is still here tells you all you need to know imo

If the extension (was 1+1 I believe) was taken up he would be locked in but any type of wage renegotiation would give him an option to walk away. I like Ziggy but my thoughts on keeping him rests on whether we can add an experienced CB (Visa or local) to the back line and still keep him. With international travel being a bit tricky at the moment I wouldn't be see surprised if those already here are being chased pretty hard and some borderline players that would normally move on get deals.

Mariners press said McGlinchey, Djuric, Oar, Melling and Jair have all departed the club. Fair amount of current coin in there.
Yeah and the website also says negotiations continue with others which would mean Ziggy birraz and Simon, maybe a few more because they were off contract too and if they weren’t negotiating new deals then they would be listed too, which is a good sign if they stay

Happy with those exists except for Duric. I'm still really torn with that one. I know he was plagued with his injury and wasn't getting any younger but his quality was obvious. The cross-field rockets which he could land on a dime were beautiful to watch. I'll miss that.

His class was at obvious but his fitness too much of a gamble especially in light of the revised media deal. Had we used our money well I think we could carry him as our 5th visa player and used sparingly but we don’t have the pockets or squad to do that.

I saw an article suggesting the loss of these players 'compounds our woes'.
How can letting go of players from a dismally failing team be seen as some kind of error?
IF we survive we definitely need a rebuild, which means saying goodbye to the underperforming squad.
Duric might be the exception here but obviously with his injury it was a gamble to club couldn't absorb this time

Oar, Judas, Melling and Jair were terrible, terrible signings and Staj is only responsible for Jair. He inherited the others with contracts. Duric was the exception but as Anton said, "too old". You only had to watch Melling for 5 minutes to see he couldnt actually pass the ball. Judas wanted to sue us and we gave him a bag of cash.
While letting Wales, Trent and Millar walk from under our noses.
The entire recruitment at CCM is a cluster f**k.
I get that players simply dont want to come to the club and we get the left overs but we have to be able to avoid known duds and invest our cash to keep players who we know can play

If someone wants to see a negative they’ll find it one way or another but as you said at least 4 of the 5 simply weren’t a good use of funds. Oar never lived up to his price tag and while at one point I genuinely thought he might be our next captain I’m happy to see the back of him as the end product just wasn’t there.

Some players need everything around them running well to perform, maybe Oar is one of them although I’m not expecting big things at Macarthur either. We need a player that can lift everyone else up, a Ninkovic or Diamanti would do that, a fit Djuric might have been able to do it. The others on that list definitely don’t do it.

Andrew Nabbout not going to Perth and currently not tied to any club. He’d be pretty handy upfront I think, any thoughts??

Why be hung up about him being an ex Jets player? He is also an ex Victory player( and I hate Melbourne Victory a lot more than the Jets) so if the price is right try to sign him. While he is not the greatest footballer in the A-league he is very direct and makes defenders work.Jordan Murray could certainly learn how to play as a striker if teamed with Nabbout.

The real problem is that he will want too much money. I expect him to be going OS
