ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round 21 v Western United (A)

Ironic thing is, as much as we laugh at that lot up the road, I could see at least a few of their supporters backing our boycott/ protest for a few notable reasons:

a) A poor CCM has diminished the standing of the F3D in the overall context of the game
b) If CCM relocated or ceased to exist, the Jest would lose their biggest fixture of the year
c) Their fans are all too familiar with what it's like to be managed by incompetent owners. Say what we like about MC, I've yet to hear about him threatening to throw any of our fans off the stadium balcony...

Nizzy was playing as the 10.

Stens and Kim were very poor as a defensive shield and the back 4 were simply woeful.
Woeful defence does not describe it. They do nothing. Do any of them now how to tackle, to pressure an attacker, to reduce the attackers space to shoot. They all seem to expect the dm's to do the defensive work. Hello... CB's have only one role, that is to stop the ball going into the net.
They were atrocious.
I generally stick up for Staj but he has failed to pull this lot together. They are good enough individually but are very poorly organised as a unit. Too loose, too misaligned and gutless.

Can’t expect to much from our defense when Staj forgot to buy one.

not buying a true quality CB will always hurt. That is his biggest mistake so far and he has tried using Ziggy to hide it but it’s not the answer

I disagree, onto it most of them are not good enough individually. Many are youngsters are learning and will improve and get there, but too many are receiving their career last professional pay checks.. We probably have one or two players who would get a start in another club, no more.

Now we’ve calmed down a little dare i say our offense looked a little more fluid yesterday and with better finishing (i am directly looking at your Mr Murray) we could have scored 4 ourselves in the first half.

Harolds speed and ball control opened up our counter (we are very slow) and one or two better passes or finishing and we could have competed.

it’s way to early but I’d like to see Harold with Koul as that pace might make up for us getting clogged in the middle.

I also wonder if that change in attack lead to the leaks at the back

Didn't watch the game yesterday, I went for a walk instead because the exercise is great and it would be a much more enjoyable afternoon than finding some pub playing the game and then sitting there for 2 hours muttering curses at the screen. It was only when I reached North Avoca surf club that I randomly checked Fb and saw the score (at that time) was 4-2. I figured maybe if we're lucky it'll end up a 4-4 draw- but not to be.

I said a couple of months ago that the Jest, WSW and Victory were in a worse place than CCM, but difference is they've all taken action in the right areas and got spirited wins on the weekend. Following CCM at the moment is like playing a multiplayer video game where everybody else is buying new weapons/ potions/ armour and levelling up yet we persist on playing with the default weapons and armour you start with. January was the time to boost this squad and yet again Charlesworth did SFA. Had we acted, we could be enjoying results like WSW and the Jest of late, maybe even the Roar- yet haven't moved forward an inch.

I went back and looked at the thread from last years' F3 derby when it was Staj's first game in charge, people were saying how much better the whole team looked and where might the squad be if we'd had him since the start of last season? What we're seeing now is the answer to that- overall better than under the previous few managers since Arnie, but there's only so much Staj can do with the resources he's been given. And this is about his limit. Mourinho, Klopp, Pep, Simeone or Zidane would struggle to do much better without adequate resources.

Nearly didn't bother to check this thread at all and have only followed the last few pages, but it's been unusually promising to read so far. If we were SFC or MVFC or WSW, the rot going on at this club would never have lasted this long. Their bigger/ more expectant fanbases would've made a lot of noise about their discontent, and the FFA would realise what a bad look it was for one of their most prominent clubs and the game- and ensured action was taken. CCM don't have that advantage- we don't have the supporter numbers or the demographic/ political clout. So I agree that we need to become more vocal/ prominent in publicising our thoughts on the state of this club and its' ownership.

I fully support boycotting games and am happy to take part in a protest of any sort should it be arranged. I like the idea of going into the ground, putting up a banner/ banners and then walking out. Below is a quick sketch I thought up for a big banner idea- could change the captions but I think this really spells out (for neutral fans) the change in fortunes of this once proud club and what needs to happen ASAP. I'm open to feedback:

I love the banner but wouldn't add the charlesworth out bit. That isn't going to change due to pressure from fans and will probably just put him more offside.

The rest is perfect - makes a massive point, airs our dissatisfaction and shows protest. love it.

I was very interested in watching how Nissy performed in the #10 role.
The first twenty minutes he looked unsure and ineffectual(not Robinson Crusoe there). However he settled down and started to look more comfortable as the game went on. He did not show his normal speed of decision making but a lot of that happened when he was looking for options. He will learn that there will be less options further up the park as well I noticed a distinct lack of runs from our forwards to give him an option or even make themselves available. Hopefully this will come with experience and understanding between all involved. I did like his knowledge to get into scoring positions to receive crosses and absolutely loved him out competing a 3 meter tall cb to head a chance.
It was a big ask for someone who has just made a big step up in grade and I was reasonably happy with what he made of his chance.
A lot more learning and experience needed before he is an answer for that position but I am pretty sure he has the ability.

If the Club do not secure he signature soon they will miss out. If that happens someone needs a thorough kicking. He is continuing to show more potential than any other of our youth who have been given a chance.

I like this idea but we’ll need quite a few people to help..

What about the opposite? a big "Thanks Mr Charlesworth for years of success"

Why don’t we look at the positives of the MC era:

-no issues finding a park at the stadium
-lots of spare seats around you to stretch out in
-improved line ups at food and beverage stands
-opening up of New Year’s Eve options, even an EdSheeran cover band is competition these days
-I’m sure members have a greater option of seating now there are less numbers

it’s almost like having a private screening of a football match - what other team in the country can offer that?

Cheers MC

Maybe (if we wanted to be fancy) depict that girl from the old L.J Hooker ads, but have her wearing a CCM scarf and a speech bubble going "Thankyou Mr Charlesworth!"

How about the active groups contact Bay Rd and set up a screening of the next home match. Good company, mend some bridges. They can pool for a banner to hang in the bay before heading off fro a drink...

‘This is where we’d sit,
If you gave a S**T.
Thanks Mike for killing our club.’

They would need to buy a TV 1st but the idea has merit - with crowds dwindling a boycott wont show up without publicity. The club is driven by spin and hype - increase negative press and the leaders who have ducked for cover will re-appear to try and re-tuck everyone with more lies (like how much we have improved)
Well worth a members boycott

Haven’t tried their food or beer yet... from what I’ve been hearing I’ve been missing out  we’d love to join if the lads will have us.
