And how much of it could be designated to coaching? Also would Juninho expect another 1 mill?season contract given the amount of games he played this year? He definantly wont get it at Sydney!

That would leave $600k or 22 players!

but we would be signing two players for big money and expecting the same thing from them...

we would be signing dwight for the creative spark, and to add variation to our attack.

if we have caceres and elrich putting crosses into the strikers all game every game, teams will pick up on it... throw in dwight yorke and all of a sudden you have balls being slotted through the guts, and balls being splayed wide, with the option to cross to the strikers or cut it back in to dwight. juninho would be doing the same thing but with out the physically strength of dwight and with the lingering problem of being injury prone.

---------Jedi-----Hutch
Elrich------Yorke-------Caceres
-----------Sasho/Mrdja/Macca

So if he comes back to pursue coaching, and his wages are not as much as his $ydney fc contract, is there the possibility of him fitting under the cap with a coaches role?

imo it's more likely that Yorke would play Hutch's role just in front of Jedi and we'd have two targets in the box for the wingers.

IMO, no.

Even if it is less than Sydney's contract V1 and it will be subsidised yb a coaching role, it would be too large to fit under the cap.

Diwhgt will be our Marquee and a great one too IMO.

yeah, im pretty sure it was in the article regarding speaking to dwights management, lyall said that he didnt realise elrich denied newcastle and that they would consider having talks with him, a couple of days later, he is unveiled as our new signing. must have been some pretty convincing talks, or lyall was just pulling our legs.

The same Lyall Gorman that said we weren't signing Vidmar?

Lyall is a deadset champ.

wonder if we use the Godfather contract negotiation method... "it's either your signature on this contract, or your brains"

Slater hinted on Total Football that people would be 'surprised' at what $'s DY would sign for if offered the chance to come back to the HAL, throwing $600k figure out there as a 'for as little as', but emphasised the trip over here would need to be for more than just one season.

So between $550-$750 per season on a 2 year deal for me would be a good buy for us considering 3 things.

1) Going into the ACL, provides a larger profile for the club in attracting interest and even bigger $$'s from potential sponsors from the Asian Pacific rim

2) Lawrie said (confirmed from Lawrie on Sat night in the Kendall) that there were 3 maybe 4 players at Lightning they 'might' be interested in, I got the impression from his wording that Mariners Academy players were not going to make-up the bulk of their HALY squad, in that they were looking far and wide from ALL the AIS, QIS, NSWIS, VIS, NNSWIS etc.

HAL Youth League players will ALL be earning the same $$'s () as in a base salary like apprenticeships regardless of which team they play for. Therefore clubs will have to sell themselves in regards to their set-up, structure, faciliities and COACHING STAFF. Training with Dwight Yorke and talk on here of his coaching aspirations are a further incentive in attracting the BEST Youth from ALL OVER the country to play for us, which as a club we should want.

3) His creative, attacking play is what we really need this season after the exit of TommyP,  combined with his abillity to read the game

Waiting and watching...................... 8)

Totally agree with your comments and consider Yorke and Elrich great assets to the club both on and off the pitch. People must consider that having a high profile while the ACL awaits and the potential financial interest that it could produce will provide a solid base from which all other success is attained.

KAREEM if he is helpin us get results off the pitch it really does not matter what use he is off the pitch. he will quickly adapt to the marinersstyle of helpin out in the community  as i hear he is very much a family man himself so as long as he is doin his job im sure most of us would agree it really doesnt matter what use he is off the pitch providing he doesnt disgrace our club in anyway

i see what Kareem was reffering to  but i hear that elrich as i said is a family man so he should have no problem fitting in here but yes as i said if they can do the job and keep a good name with our club i really coultn care what use he is off the field
