I can, he broke Ninkovic's heart. That is worth more than a missed goal.
1. When Nizzy out muscled Ninkovic (on the eastern side first half) and took the ball away from him easily, it was a sign that Ninko had gone one season to many. I wouldn`t be surprised if he retires early this season, maybe even a heartlidge injury.
2. I said to my my mate before the game that Miller needs to change his game and attack the box more.
He did this superbly and the result was a superb goal.I hope it gives him the confidence to explore his options further. He`s a big unit and i`m sure he will strike fear into the hearts of opponents if he does.
3. I was amazed at the determination showed by our side.Full credit to Monty /Serge and the whole squad. They were so good I didn`t even realise that BoBo, Caceres and Alf were even on the pitch in the first half. TCT looked good when he came on but Farrell was immense at shutting him down.
For mine Rowles was MOM he has cut down the mistakes and is leading by example at the back.
4. The only flaw in Olly`s game is his shooting. He`s not as bad as Zadkovic but f**k me he either needs to spend a lot of hours hitting a target ala Craig Johnston or give it to someone that actually has an idea where the goals are....

Steve "you're just a shit Graham Arnold" Corica — awesome job in the bay today team — is in serious f**king trouble.

When you're pulling Bobo, Burgess, Ninkovic then Lefondre to try and win a game, you're in seriously deep shit. These players are unlikely to accept or see themselves as the problem. Unless he can reinvigorate them, he's in a lose, lose. Play them and they can't do the job and you're screwed, bench them and ooooh boy the dressing room will turn to shit and players will be muttering to staff...

Needs Brattan, Barbarouses and Grant back ASAP to save his arse. Otherwise first coach to be sacked this year,
FP ...if we can get the job done next week against WSW I think the Mariners could claim another coaching scalp in Robinson. Seriously with the talent he has, he should be unbeatable this year. Instead they have under-performed again so far this season...

Yeah NIzzy is an amazing defender. Can handle the best players in the league. Whenever I see him marking players trying to create something, I breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Ollie, used to have an amazing strike, radar has been off for sure, but I don't want him to stop shooting because I'm sure he'll get his eye in again and bang in his share.

On Nizzy's shooting, he could have/should have had a hatrick tonight, but really we have a players whose been developing as a DM for the last few years and now has suddenly been converted to an attacker. But he's such an intelligent and skilful footballer he's repeatedly interlinking with Marcos and finding himself in great goal scoring positions, Marcos set him up beautifully twice, if he just gets a little more shooting practice, I'm sure he'll improve his strike rate, and once he does, honestly, look the f**k out. What a complete footballer.

Broke his heart extracted it then served it up on a platter, not dissimilar to a Hannibal Lecter dinner party!
He did. But it's not enough for him. He needs to bury those chances. Then, if he does, he'll never play for us again. I'm ok with him not doing it, as long as it doesn't cost us.

I used to watch Brenden Santalab training (in his own time) at Parklea 20 years ago.
He would be shooting at at Goalkeeper Tynan Scope (ex Macarthur and Coventry) for hours.
The dedication the pair of them showed was just inspirational to watch.
Olly needs to find a training partner like that.
Nizzy really needs to read WALK ALONE-The Craig Johnston Story...

I went back to Hotel Gosford for a couple of victory drinks and a SFC supporter came up to me patted me on the back and said to me "you would have to be proud of that display your guys deserved it all and should have got many more" 3 more drinks later I finally left.
Had lunch there today with a Sydney supporter. It really is a nice set up.

I thought nizzys first goal would open the flood gates for him. I was wrong. He not a scorer. He should sign a lifetime contract with the Mariners because he won't make it any where else with finishing like that. I love him, but he just doesn't have what's required. ?

Was going to say something similar, I don't think he has it.

and there's the rub . if he takes 50% of his chances at point blank range .
then instead of me counting seconds . it's game .
saying "i wasn't nervous " is ridiculous . 2nil leads dissolving in 3 minutes are what the game ins built on.
AM said it "he is rushing chances" it isn't good enough

It doesn't matter if you're a rm, dm, or striker, if you get those chances you need to bury them. If you don't, consistently, you're not up to scratch and I'm afraid, that's our Nizzy. Ollie was copping shit for his long range shots and he's hitting the post and forcing saves. Nizzy is missing wide open 18 yard shots and headers. It's great he's creating but when people create for him and he continually wastes them................

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
It was a great evening. The Mariners served up some of the best Football seen at CCS for 7 or 8 years. All of the boys were switched on tonight and Nizz, Cy and Marcos sliced them up repeatedly.

Not one of our players had a bad game, everyone was outstanding. The stadium was buzzing for the last 5 minutes. It was lovely to watch.

Birraz 8. Never looked like conceding but does owe the post a drink.
Miller 8.5. Confident and simply excellent. Very professional tonight.
Farrell. 8.5. This kid is amazing. Cool with the ball and clever too. Defended resolutely.
Hall 8. Rock solid.
Kye 8. Never put a foot wrong. Read the game like a scholar.
Cy 8.5. Superb. What a great little player. 1pt.
Olli 8. Very calming performance
Steele 8. He is a nice player and was very solid. It's going to be a massive battle for this spot because Max Ballard was brilliant when he came on too.
Nizzy 9. He ripped Sydney apart. His workrate is incredible as is his touch. If he scored it would have been 9.5. MOM 3pts
Moreshe 8. I'm loving this bloke. Fantastic finish and looks super confident. 1pt.
Marcos 8.5. Led from the front tonight. Classy goal and a classy performance 2pts.
What Wombat said ….there wasn’t even a slightly shite Mariner across the park , My MOM is General Montgomery, M&M, Lewy, Fazz, Nizz, Birraz…you see we’re I’m going ?…and I think it’s fair to say that Corica has been found wanting and if he laststhe season ,he should never buy a lotto ticket ever again….the only funny thought I had was we got our halves of footy the wrong way around , we usually score in the second half …..the ref was only …A STOOGE (shout out too Mr Quilty) ….I was looking at the bay last night and thought to myself, if these was the old days when Bay 16 (YA) was 4 bays wide , the racket would be skull shattering ….SO….here’s to Montys Marvels on a cracking first homie ???
and the only other thing I can say to the lads If they see this is …thanks for making my last blue tongue game a deadset cracker and I’ll see them in Redcliffe….COYY ?????

I thought they looked far more dangerous with the old guys off and the youth on. Bughagiar has bulked up and is maturing in his play. If he played the youth from the start we'd have had to be way more cautious in attack. LeFondre looked tubby and tired as he was coming off.

Our boys look hungry and fit. I am a bit concerned about the number of injuries we're picking up, maybe there was same gamesmanship there but it is highlighting some possible squad depth weakness.

Still buzzing from a huge win though, need to watch that first 20 mins on the replay. Fantastic to watch live, they were so dominant.

Moresche came over to the fans at the end and signed a couple of items for the kids, what a great guy. Big season ahead!
