ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

That kaltak hasn't been the brick wall of Gosford this year.

And when he has been poor the blame has been shifted or excused as him having to organise or cover for other players.
I see, so when I say I don't think Paull is yet up to Aleague standard at Centre back you're saying he is but he gets the blame for Brian's mistakes which makes people think he isnt as good as he really is. That's your opinion, I'm not of the same opinion.

I'm not some huge Kaltak fan, I think he's a good player who is guaranteed to make a mistake eventually. His weakness is being pressed and rushed. Paull is better at playing out and that's part of why I think he's shining at LB. Also turns out he can cross well and is a decent goal hanger. Keep him at LB.

Stats don't tell you how well a player positions himself or reads play. I agree Brian has had some poor games as well this season.
Ability to read the game would lead to higher interceptions. Ability to read the game can be a natural skill or acquired from experience, no?

Yes and I've said before that I don't think Paull reads the game well as a natural talent. It might improve with time, positioning is similar. As a defender at 21 I thought he'd be further along than he is but maybe he didn't get a lot of game time before joining us.

I'm not ragging on him I think he's playing well at the moment, now he's out of that CB role he looks a lot more comfortable.

No. What I am saying is that he is developing into a player who could be a solid a league standard defender. I'm not saying he is prime Maldini.

What I am also saying, is that when Brian sits on the 6 yard box and doesn't mark anyone, that to blame paull for conceding the goal, without even acknowledging the part such poor positioning had on the goal being conceded, is a poor bit of analysis. Also that the second goal is not just that nata won the header - the dismal playing at the back and conceding of the corner directly contributed to the goal. Ignoring that and pinning it on Paull is just plain BS.

And there is countless times this year that Brian's errors have been excused because he was under the debilitating effect of captaincy or playing next to Paull (even when some of his biggest gaffes this year were when he was playing next to tapp or sains - can't blame Paull for the honking defending against Sydney as he didn't even play).

He's not out of the CB role. We play with 3, he is one of them.
