ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

4-1 v argies. 1991 under 21 wc 4th . 1993 under 21 wc 4th
3-1 aus v japan 2006 wc
No.

The 4-1 against argentina was in 1998 in a friendly, so not competition.
The 1991 youth world cup, we played against the Soviet Union, Egypt & Trinidad & Tobago in the groups, plus Syria in the first knock out, which we won on pens after extra time, then lost to Portugal to come 4th with another loss to the Soviet Union on pens.
And no, we HOSTED the 93 youth champs, with one of our best youth line ups with a negative for & against reading 8 for and 9 against.
Then the 2006 WC was the golden gen (a fair few of the guys which were at the 93 youth WC) and we were going to lose that game against the Japanese. The goals of Timmy's maybe the best ever but the win is not. (It is the closest but not equal to this tonight)
This game tonight was complete backs to the wall shit. We beat a side that is favourite for the Gold (japan had no chance of winning 2006 WC), and we did it on pure defence and Arnie ball with a side that no one has even heard about. Its a f**king Aleague team against guys that play in some of the best leagues in the world. Arzani looks like my grand father, he's that fat and slow. Never beaten a South American opponent at the Olympics.
Greatest.
Win.
Ever.
It's like us beating Italy by 2 goals in 2006.

I am going 2001 Confederations Cup when we beat then world/euros champions France and Brazil to make the final.

These sort of “upsets” happen all the time at Olympic level because it is u23s so we can can’t compare apples with oranges comparing full squads with junior squads. It is not as if we were playing Messi and Di Maria. Mexico beat France 4-1 yesterday as well.

Atkinson is a top player-he would have impressed European scouts.King also played well and the CB combination of Deng and Souttar was very solid.A win or a draw against Spain would be a great follow up result.

Arnie is a great coach for young players-he can really enthuse them.

Great win and a good game. I hope those bookings dont hurt us in that 3rd game. Apparently 2 bookings across the 1st two games and you miss the 3rd game. We must have got 8 bookings yesterday, (all of them warranted.) The Argies got a heap as well.

The ref was way too heavy handed in some instances I felt

That said I thought Arg got away with a few that should easily have been cards, mostly sliding in studs up stuff, putting the knee in to backs and legs, that sort of stuff
