ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

i dont disagree with the trumpet being there, I like the tooting and honking. I disagree with the insistence on "Sing us a song youre the Mariners","Lets go Mariners Lets go", "Celery", "Disco". Has it not sunk in that these are either dire f**king chants!!?

when there's nothing else going, i can see why they get started. if we don't like them, it's up to us to have what we view as 'better' songs going.

i'm a bit over the whole 'we must be cultured supporters' thing. there are a few things that we could do if we were running under a true capo system, where the capo is the recognised leader of the section and we all follow. but the simple fact of the matter is that we don't and won't work that way. people don't always want to follow what the capo does and there's not a lot you can do about that. people want to do their own thing a bit, and sing some songs and not others.

if we can step back for a sec - we've started a few new and different songs this year which remove the need for some of the more cringeworthy season 1 material, and believe it or not i think we're bigger than we've been any time since season 2. we're filling bay 16 pretty comfortably (and overfilling it uncomfortably, in certain parts) of late. when that's all pushing in the same direction, we're certainly louder than we've ever been. it's worth noting that we're probably bigger than the cove has been a few times lately and certainly bigger than the squadron has become. :p

this is due to a helluva lot of people, not just people in the forum, not just people who hang out in the kendall or wherever, all coming together and doing their bit. i don't think they would particularly appreciate being labeled 'pathetic' as has happened a few times of late. whether they're singing a song we don't particularly like or otherwise, they're still there. when they're singing the same thing as everyone else they make us by far a better group than if they weren't there. there's no substitute for numbers.

let's have a bit less cringe and a bit more perspective.

I enjoyed it, as I enjoy the pipes ...

When a song or chant isn't in progress of course ..... which seemed the case.

What I didn't enjoy was the moronic banging on the advertising with no thought to the noise destroying the impact of songs or chants!

I was just in front of the trumpet on Friday. I found it OK, and welcome addition. The guy can actually play, so that's a bonus. I found the choice of songs OK too, as well as the frequency (not too often) and placement (not drowning out chants).

I don't mind the bagpipes, but have to say that I dont' recognise any of the tunes, and none of them stir me like some of the better known tunes. For all I know, the tunes played might be clever, but come across as a jumble of noise. I'd rather they be foot tapping, or chant inspiring.

quality over quantity imo

bollocks. who are you talking about anyway? you stood around doing fark all on friday night. you certainly shouldn't come on here lecturing people about 'quality'. trumpet boy, for all his faults (and i've come close to jobbing him myself) at least makes a sound. you were standing around quiet as a mouse on friday. don't talk about quality unless you're going to put your shoulders to the wheel.

ahh, good old exaggeration. kutgw

Was quiet for songs i refuse to sing....which happened to be repeated frequently. Just as ill never convince you that right wing politics is the way to go...you will never get me singing certain bay 16 songs

p.s dont understand how that counts as a lecture? just stating my opinion that numbers arnt everything

I admit that chants last longer without dying out when an instrument plays along with the chant (drum, trumpet, pipes, whatever). But I still voted "Out" because the trumpet is only used in that context occasionally.

I also find myself waiting for him to explode as "Mariners - Toot Toot" escalates in pitch and the Toot-Toot's begin to approach the dog-whistle register.

you know you can lead a horse to water, etc. i'm not sure you're exactly convincing people to participate and develop their participation and their repertoire by hurling abuse at them in the bay either.

we've tried the jumping chant a number of times since season 2 and it's never been a barnstormer, though it has in the past worked a lot better than the other night. other new songs need time to become locked in, it's as simple as that.

trumpet crew sing loads of stuff from season 1 and are going to take a little more cajoling and a little less abuse to move forward.
