Well, once upon a time they meant the same thing. In recent times social progressives {I daren't say "Lefties" as it is frowned upon in this thread, but curiously 'fascist' and 'nazi' aren't] decided to redefine 'gender' to accommodate the rich tapestry of sexuality that enriches us today.
The ad targets older people and conservative people, so my advice is, as always, if you dont like what a party has to say, just dont vote for them.

Agreed, some are like that, but the clue is often in the names. eg I ignore a rusted on ideologue incapable of original thought or synthesising a position from a range of sources/experiences, and assumes that those with differing opinions must suffer from his same limitations, and another that indicates that he [to put it in the kindest possible way] must be 'neuro-divergent".

I dare say the proprietors of the Oxford Dictionary are not in any way “lefties” or influenced by the left.

Most would agree with me about Clive Palmer because that is exactly what he is.

I never said they were. If you read my post I said that some time ago social progressives chose to redefine it, and like some other nonsense they claim, it has gained traction. The Oxford dictionary merely reflects that current use.
If you dont like Palmer, One Nation, the Coalition, thats your right, as is your right not to vote for them. The language you used is the sort that shuts down threads like this.

What shuts downs threads is personal abuse towards fellow forum members which is still happening. No one cares about Palmer.

Palmer’s been getting called that, amongst other things, on this forum since 2009.
Meanwhile, another ‘contributor’ has been openly calling other forum members “stupid cvnts” and “shit for brains” in this thread over the last couple of weeks. Purely an observation from my point, but an interesting hill you’ve picked.
