ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sorry P but it isn't the same thing.... Newcastle is Newcastle, Lake Mac is Lake Mac, Central Coast is Central Coast - The Beauty of Lake Mac is its right in the middle and you have people supporting both teams..

Our ID's and ZPL squads at Morisset are full of guys who support both the Mariners and Jets... Lake Mac is its own Football identity - its not part of Newcatsle Football and to suggest its the same thing is just incorrect.

basically everyone i know pretty much considers lake macquarie and newcastle to be the same thing. they're both the same region, there's no divide between the two. the only real reason for it being called "the city of lake macquarie" is so they have their own council as newcastle council would have a tough time taking care of such a big area.

maybe when you get out to morriset and the like you have a point, but no one will say "oh yeah charlestown, that's in lake macquarie".

Possibly - but even in Footballing terms they are seperate assosciations (Lake Mac and Newcastle that is)

I don't consider Charlestown part of Newie - to me Newie is the inner suburbs thats it...

If your region has 49 numbers, you're in Newcastle. If it has 43 numbers, you're in the Coast. For me, if you had to draw a line on a map seperating Newy and the Coast I would say the roundabout at the freeway-end of the Morisset Golf Course. Turn left there and head to Wyee Point, you're on the Coast. Turn left onto the freeway, you're on the Coast. There's Coast fans in and around Lake Mac, but they're all supporting their non-home-team.

Morisset FC, like my club that I play for, is apart of Macquarie Football association, rather than Newcastle Football. They are both apart of Northern NSW, along with Hunter Valley. Northern NSW is Newcastle. They work in with the Jets, the Jets have adopted NNSW's colours for the away kit (well, that was their intention, but they forgot the red) - clubs apart of NNSW are Newcastle clubs.

All true - but when was the last time a Jets player was a) assosciated with a local club or B) even turned up at a local club. Unlike the Mariners the Jets have been poor here and if you are in an outlying area the Jets mean nothing out here..

Does anyone give a flying f**k where the 'line' is? Is anybody going to change clubs because they suddenly discover they're on the other side of the 'line'?

Your club's your club. Don't explain. Don't justify. It doesn't have to be logical.

If logic alone dictated who to support, I sure wouldn't be driving 3hr round trips to go back home to Gosford to support my club, I'd be taking short, easy (and boozy) trips up to the SFS. But I was on the Mariners from day 1, I watched that shootout from Bay 16, I'm a Mariners man and that's all there is to it.

Every year Jobe Wheelhouse is associated with, shows up at pre-season launch of, shows up to games, of his former club Toronto-Awaba. He even played with us for a year, well the start of a year before the A-league kicked back on. EDIT: I can't confirm this happened for the season that just went. Everyone [including myself] but one person left the club because of the coach. I haven't kept up with them too much since.

BK shows up to Thornton games and watches.

James Virgilli shows up to Edgeworth games. Benny K shows up to Magic & Olympic games.

I've been to plenty of Hamilton Olympic games that a large portion of the Jets watch from the stands. Ruben Zadkovich is from Wollongong but I see him at every Olympic game I go to.

I don't disagree that the Mariners are better at getting out & about the community more, because in all honesty I think they do.

But there's a high percentage of our local-bred players who show up to their former clubs, no one can say that's untrue.

I was with y'all for a bit of the preseason - one of two survivors in the whole club from the year before. Would have been my 6th season with the club. But the less said the better, I moved on.

It is?

All NNSWFF clubs are Newcastle clubs? The 5 year old you answered and whom others continue to humour, claims, all clubs from Southern Lake Macq. to Tweed Heads and west to Lightning Ridge are, by proxy, Newcastle clubs.

Now, I realise you may just be trying to humour a toddler but lets not stretch the bedtime tales to impossible fiction, please. It could scare the children into nightmares.

It's quite a coincidence, actually. I heard a conversation similar to this thread on Xmas day, between preschoolers debating whom had the best toys.

Well the Jets represent NNSW. So yeah, if you work off regions, if you're in the NNSW district then your local team is the Jets. Logic doesn't come into it always, as said by someone else, but NNSW is represented by the Jets so all NNSW clubs are Newcastle. Did y'all see the Jets v Perth home game with the Squadron tifo of Newcastle Football, Macquarie Football & Hunter Valley football logos, with the caption "THIS IS NEWCASTLE"? EDIT: could have been WE ARE NEWCASTLE. With UNITED above it.

Southern Lake Mac might have a higher percentage of Mariners fans compared to the rest of the overall Newcastle region, but it's Newy territory. The phone numbers dictate that IMO. I personally live in Southern Lake Mac, and feel I'm from Newy, rather than the Coast, because I have a 49 number and not a 43 number.

Now Now - in terms of what the Jets say and NNSW Football yes (there are Jets posters at all Local club canteens etc)... Thats the Logic taken care of now the emotional part FARK NO - it means Jack shit what region you play in to what club you support - we all know that. All Patrick was saying was the clubs in NNSW are Jets clubs by the nature they are in NNSW - thats the entity (the Club) - not the people/supporters...

See - I'm actually happy to say I'm from Lake Mac or the Hunter Valley before I say Newie...

Well said Dibo.

Football is not logical.

I'd wager a bet that there are a lot more Mariners fans with a 49 number than there are Newcastle fans with a 43 number.
