As the season wears on, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of acknowledgement and general media coverage of our club from the media at large. As always, there has been next to no media coverage of our achievements so far this season.

No doubt, Adelaide or Brisvegas have been playing excellent Football, but when will we ever receive credit for our Football and our results? It's been happening since season one, but surely we deserve recognition for our brand of Football and results thus far this season.

We have been playing an exciting possession game, getting the ball at the back and building into attack playing short passing, moving off the ball game into the final third. Excellent defence and midfield attacking game.

I believe we have the beginnings of something big at our club. Our depth has never been better, exciting youth for the first time and a genuinely attractive style of Football. We have never had a better squad and I believe we are a real shot at top two and the title.

Arnie deserves a big rap as do the owners. I am very grateful to all that make us such a great club. We have a lot to be thankful for. I am very proud of our club.

The question is, we will ever recieve the media credit we deserve and why don't we get it?

For me, this season is the best we've ever been and I honestly think this year could be our year. What do you all think?

Well the World Game was laughable.

DId they say mighty mariners run rampant in their opening? No. Woeful Perth was their sound bite.

ONve they got to the game - they bagged Perth for awhile - then they rightly praised Musti - then went back into bagging Perth...

Fran goes, but I thought the Mariners were really good I... Foster interupts and says, talk about Perth now Fran.
He says - but i don't want to take anything away from the Mariners they... And Foster cuts him off again and directs him to go back to talking about the crapness of Perth!

Honestly the guys a total ass. He's been using this technique for years. When a team he doesn't like or tehir coach does something well he just singles out a single player for praise so he conveniently doesn't have to say anything positive about those he has a gripe against. Seriously fools a lot of people. But if you see him for what he is, he's a hard man to like.

As to media coverage on fox - To be honest I think it was A LOT worse before we got Arnold and the benefit of his mates network - hasn't been too bad I thought - and I think we'll get some more good press tomorrow night.

But maybe I'm just too conditioned from hearing nothing but creaming over Brosque and humping Muscat for so long.

:vomit:

I thought Fozz was disgusting the way he cut Francis off - surely the story was of the exhilirating style of the Mariners not the demise of Perth? There was so much good football to show from Arnie's boys but they showed nothing. I expect this crap from News Ltd but SBS should know better

TBF the big news really is Perths abysmal failure with a great line up. 7 losses on the trot is quite extraordinary.

As for no media coverage, its all good with me. The longer we are not being talked up the better

Dumping Star locally would be a good start!

We will hardly ever get the big news nationally because we are the smallest market. It sucks but that it the reality of a free market (or close enough to) economy.

Scottmac's right. Perth were abysmal. That really is the bigger story.

As far as the story of the season is concerned, we'll fly under the radar for a bit, helped by games
In hand. We're out of sight, out of mind.

If when the midweek matches roll around we can keep racking up wins, we'll be high on the hog and impossible to ignore.

Really though I don't think this is our year. We're genuine top 4 material but we're still short of a little something in attack.

We're not playing pretty like Brisbane, though I don't think we're far off Adelaide.

Top 4 and denting the pride of the neighbors is a win for the season in my eyes.

I believe we are in a better spot than adelade and brissy, simply because we have more depth. Any of our first team can go out and be replaced without major drama, eg our star attacker is out and we score 5!

A loss of a mackay or lekie and it's game over

i really, really, REALLY tried to watch SBS and the World football news and once again nearly threw the fn remote throught the tele....I just dont get the lack of respect, did Laurie tell Fossie to f**k himself or something in V1

Really, why should we care about Fossie & his spew-making ramblings? The whole football world knows he's a wanker. I'm sure our club has it's due respect from the unbiased majority.

Yeah, your right, Foz was tossing over Brisbane's 1-1 draw with last place while we smash Glory 5-0.

personally im not worried about what the league in general thinks, im more worried about what the local community thinks. I think if we can win our next few games we could really rev up the local community and get a good crowd come the 21st

I think he pissed him off from Northern Spirit because he was disruptive to the squad - hence the no dickhead policy.

I don't agree. Perth were worse against Sydney, As for the Brisbane - Sydney game, I think we would have beaten that very fatigued Brisbane side.

We need to do that, and soon. I was at Erina Fair on Sunday and saw a shitload of posters urging ppl to join the Central Coast Bears. I wanted to get a marker & write Mariners on them, but my wife wouldn't have it.

We are only going to get better as the season progresses, Perez to get a run of games, confidence on the increase with every game, lashings of youth at our disposal, once we get to the top of the league..in about 3 -4 weeks... we will run away with it.

F&*CK the bears!! Its just North Sydney in disguise. You have to remember that we are a small club on small budget with no benefactor with deep pockets (ala Tinkler). Give us someone like Tinkler and I think the media side of things would be completely different.

This.

Went to Minsky's in Cremorne the other month and noticed a shit load of advertising for the Central Coast bears. The ownership and major sponsorship is sourced from the North Shore as well. From what i can tell they seem to marketing the club as a truely coast team only because its the most viable option to get North Sydney back in the league. I wonder what the reaction of Coast locals will be once they find out they have been conned.
