ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He keeps rolling the dice on gimmicks whilst tightening the belt.
Bolt being the obvious one - and that PR might have had some merit if we could deliver a half decent season. What are the other gimmicks? Garcia maybe? I'm of the belief that we should have done better even on a budget, there have been plenty of decisions that an average football fan would think "really? wtf?" and there's been a few things that just havent worked out like a bunch of recruitment decisions like Asdrubal, Hoole, Simon, Mclginchey, Faty and Tavares just to name a few or hiring Mulvey who had been coach of the year and won the title a few years prior. We weren't the only ones fooled there.

I can see why MC could feel like he's been burned no matter what he does and throwing millions more at it isnt a viable option. This season we arent breaking the bank and seem to be making more sensible decisions. Hopefully MC finally has the right people around him to make us competitive again, if we can do that maybe he will see some value in relaxing the purse strings.

What I meant by gimmicks is this: I would say that being the 'entertaining club' regardless of results was a gimmick, moving home games to other venues (nth syd especially) was a gimmick, employing Mike Phelan (you could see the sense in this gimmick, shame it didn't pay off), the palm tree jersey, bringing back old players and calling it bringing back the culture, Bolt - I feel like there have definitely been more but I can't remember them right now.

These are all things you do to attract interest or to keep fans feeling like you're doing something. Don't get me wrong - I do believe these were a genuine attempt to be innovative within the restraints we've had, and had they paid off (even a little bit of on field success would have made it feel like it worked) people would be applauding the moves. Luck went the other way and I feel sorry for all involved. In truth I am supportive of trying to be innovative, but when they don't work they just become gimmicks
