Mrdja was a liability for us. Whatever he had, he left in the NSL. His miss against Bling Bling in Syd when the keeper passed him the ball was criminal. His career took a turn for the better when he became our mascot Marvin, mainly because of his size.

You are correct. 3-0 down and they missed a sitter to go up 4-0. After the game an old Syd fan stopped me to tell me that it may have been 3-3 but the Mariners played the better football and deserved to win. Disco came on late, I can't remember the score when the moment happened (happy to take your memory over mine) but it was right in front of where I was sitting near the fence line. He was shocked to get the ball and we all know how it ended. Great game though!

He was the definition of what could’ve been. Elite football ability, a mixture of devastating injuries which probably promoted a mentality issue, stopped any potential. All I ever remember hearing when his name was mentioned was how f**king brilliant he could be. Still a club legend in my opinion.
