ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Stadium-wide poznan

There's a heated debate going on about this idea on twitter; a poznan involving the whole stadium.

In case you're not sure what the poznan is, it basically involves turning around, linking arms, and jumping around.

"The supporters group of Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers, The Red and Black Bloc, perform the Poznan in the 80th minute of matches to represent the first football match played in western Sydney in the year 1880."

Apparently Mariners fans have asked to join the Wanderers fans in their poznan at the Grand Final...

The #rbb don't need any help with the Poznan or any other chant, mariners fans asking if they can join in, we are simply saying yes.

Thoughts?

. i have a suggestion: we could participate (join in?) but with our own unique twist on it ... continue to face the pitch and watch the game

. i don't know or understand the historic significance of turning your back ... but to me it it disrespectful to the game, players, club, etc, etc ... and just plain stoopid

Very big divide on twitter in the debate about it. Some feel it would be a fantastic advert for the game - not just on a national level but worldwide as well. Would certainly make people stand up and take notice. Some feel it would be degrading for ccm fans.

The poznan is something that WSW do for THEIR team.
I paid my money to watch the game.
The only time I'll turn my back on the game is when I'm off to the bar, toilet or there's a penalty kick.

Yep no doubt would look fantastic but what reason do we have to support it - None - Represents them not us - While I'm all for helping out my fellow Aussies & it has no degrading meaning for us I don't think I can commit to it until my CCM brothers grab me & turn me around (we better be winning). Maybe if they renamed it the stamping on the Cove (SFC) for one day I'd be In.

Also Remember Haliti scored in the 80th Minute at BT while they did the Poznan on our turf. So in my mind we have already supported it once. That's enough

Easy to see both sides here. It looks great but I don't really get how turning around and facing the back on play is something positive.

That aside, if it was just something they do, then it probably wouldn't matter as much, but if there really is a meaning behind it - a tribute to the first football match played in Western Sydney in 1880 - why would we want to join in, and why would they even want us to?

I used to think the Mexican wave the most stupid display at a sporting event. In terms of shear stupidity the Poznan leaves it for dead.

Mind you the RBB never watches a game anyway they are too busy looking to each side of the ground to see responses to their chants.

They are not truly football supporters, just a bunch of mug lair exhibitionists.

I'm in.

Football should be fun and we need to lighten up a tad.

After "That game up North" football can't hurt me any more so let's just have a party

+1 ... I am in to ... plus should help defuse all that slander and scare about the A-league not being safe that the Axis of Evil keeps going on with...

Considering some of the drivel that comes out of pro-NRL/AFL-anti-A-league reporters, football fans could cure world hunger and we'd still be labeled as hooligans.

This kind of joint Poznan would only be effective if the Mariners active and Wanderers active physically joined together, like people link arms mariners fan, wanderers fan, mariners, wanderers etc and did it as some form of show of unity. Otherwise it just looks a bit blah.

Would be great for the day in about 40 years when Lyall dies or some other joint figure but not for an already highly stage-managed event.

Still love the Poznan!

The war of words on twitter, and the (very little, often contradictory) information about the whole "poznan" thing available on the internets has made this situation a little misleading... with the main arguments I've read in favour being basically being "It's just a laugh, lighten up and join in" while at the same time "It will be a massive statement to the world showing how football fans from opposing teams can get along etc" along with the classic "nobody can tell me how to support my team; here is how everyone should support their team".

If you have a few minutes spare, make sure you read the article posted here, and it will (hopefully) clear up any doubts about this.

The article is a tad too long to copy/paste in its entirety, but here is my favourite section;
The proposal: a full stadium Poznan, all 45 000 of you. Turn your backs to the game for one minute (the 80th), link arms with the people to your sides (whether you know them or not) and jump up and down in celebration of our sport. This would be near unheard of in world football, and will surely, if only briefly, put our league on the world map. It would be a moment spoken about in centuries to come, just as we still reference school teacher and “father of Australian football”, John Walter Fletcher’s letter today.

Despite its ties to Western Sydney footballing heritage, the Red and Black Bloc have no qualms with Mariners supporters or neutrals joining in with the Poznan, and actively advocate it. One of the group’s influential members told me to encourage all supporters in Allianz Stadium this Sunday to “be part of a world first event”.

Simon Fisher, a representative for the Central Coast Mariner’s active supporting group, the Yellow Army, believes that a Poznan on such grand scale would surpass any ties to the Western Sydney Wanderers, “Personally I think something that can get 40,000 people in a stadium involved in a single show of support is brilliant. I don’t look at it as belonging to the RBB, because this is something you see in stadiums all around the world.”

Everyone is going to make up their own mind whether they join in or not, and I'm sure a lot of this decision will come down to what the score board reads, but this just adds something to think about and help make up your mind.
