Here's my 2 cents worth....
I know it's been mentioned several times before, but I'd like to see 'Sailing' as our Theme Song. It's certainly more memorable than the current one - which I've forgotten - however, that merely reinforces my point!
Original words (shortened):
I am sailing, I am sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing stormy waters
to be near you, to be free.
Can you hear me, can you hear me,
thro' the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
I am sailing, I am sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free
Suggested version:
We are sailing, We are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters
to be near you, to be free.
Can you hear us, (louder) can you hear us
thro' the dark night, far away,
We are flying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
We are sailing, We are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters
to be near you, to be free.
As long as you rid your mind of visions of Rod Stewart, I think it's something that could become as well known as 'You'll Never Walk Alone', 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles' and 'Que Sera Sera'. I've avoided modifying it too much - the thing is, it's a very well known song, and I think everyone in the stadium would pick it up, regardless of age.
