Agreed. But the clubs themselves have to shake off the 'soccer cringe' that has previously been involved with Football clubs and start demanding to be taken seriously, and not as some novel attraction for the stadia people to use as secondary income.
It would be nice if the Mariners could walk up to Singo tomorrow and plonk a large cheque in front of him and say they want to block book the BT stadium for the whole season and to hell with anyone else. I know that is economically unsound for both parties to go into, but I hope that in the future the stadia people around Australia wake up and realise that the A-League is still going, it is doing OK and that they can get good crowds turning up if the facilities are good, and the pitch is conducive to a good game being played.
If clubs like Adelaide, Melbourne Victory, us, Sydney FC can survive these next 2 or 3 seasons we'll be here for the long haul. Strongly doubt the long term viability of Con's Jets - if that prick keels over the Jets will be tied up in probate for 6 years! I suppose a similar doubt must exist for the GCU with their owner too.
