The unfortunate thing is that even though overall the HAL is going strong, 2 new mens teams, the W-League, Youth League, some reasonably decent crowds, we're not yet at a point where we can afford to have any of our teams in turmoil the way the Jets and Sydney are.

SFc arent really in turmoil they are just badly run and underperform. The $$ are there to dig them out of their usual scrapes.

The scum are run by not only complete and utter f**kwits but dont have the sort of backing that SFc can attract.

I, for one, delight in their turmoil. Hopefully, it will force Con out and some sensible football people can get involved and harness what is (to be fair) one of the cradles of the game in Australia

Expect the PFA to once again go on the offensive in an attempt to have the service agreements disappear and just increase the cap. Sooner or later they will get their wish i am sure.

NZ Government set to block out Jets sponsor


The Newcastle Jets have been notified that advertising regulations state that it is an offence to advertise the clubs major sponsor Centrebet in New Zealand.

Newcastle travels to New Zealand this weekend for an A-League match against Wellington Phoenix.

According to this mornings notification, gaming in New Zealand is controlled by the Gambling Act 2003 (Act). Section 16 of the Act makes it an offence to advertise an overseas gambling operator, of which CentreBet is one.

Jets CEO, John Tsatsimas, hoped he could reach a compromise with the New Zealand Government.

The club is considering the options available in order to resolve this issue and form an appropriate outcome for all concerned organisations.

It is unfortunate that we have received this notification, but we have immediately entered into discussions with the New Zealand Government, Mr. Tsatsimas said.
