ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Why did Musc**t have to retake his first missed penalty and was the call correct

Technically it was a correct call, the GCU player encroached into the penalty area before Muscat kicked the ball ... mind you, a couple of Melbourne players did that also.

A 2nd bite at the cherry was a bit harsh due to the fact the MV players also encroached the goals. Muz was already in the process of kicking the ball at the moon by the time the players stepped into the box anyway.. unfair on JVS imo.

Agree entirely that it was a bit unfair ... encroaching happens frequently. In this case, wouldn't have had any effect on Muz's moon ball. Just waiting now for the fall-out from Miron ...

Whilst the referee was technically right it was an awful decision completely against the spirit of the game. If Muscat had had his shot parried and a GC defender had encroached to clear the ball then fair enough re take it but when the alleged encroachment does not affect the outcome then he should not have called for a re take.

How must JVS confidence be right now, 6 goals in first  games and struggling with a niggling injury every time he kicks the ball.

How long has Miron got? A poor result against the sheepshaggers next week and Fat Bastard may decide a change is in order?

You don't get to get blubbermans squillions without being in control of situations .... fortunately, you can't control how footballers play on the field ... must be a new experience for him.

If both teams encroach, then the the laws state PK should be retaken no matter what the outcome is.

Really it isn't a difficult law to adhere to; I think the ref in question is only made to look bad because it's such a widely ignored law.

Unfortunately, I don't think the encroachment in this case was any worse than what occurs in just about every penalty...
