It goes back to the days when Lawrie and Fergie were trying to put a team together for the Central Coast along with others in order to make a bid for a spot in the new A-League. Players from the Spirit squad were approached and committed to a future contract on a handshake should the bid get up.Completely agree with your post, Ancient.
Can you fill me in on this bit though...? Appears to be a blank spot in my knowledge
The Spirit players who committed were; Hutch, Kwas, Milligan, Osman, Sully, Petrie, Spenny and Wilko.
When the bid got up all players signed except Milligan who had, in the meantime, renegged on the deal and without telling anyone gone off and signed with Sydney.
Apparently Fergie was furious and gunning for him and Milligan was rightly scared.
