I remember showing up to WSW away a few years ago and getting slugged $48 for an ‘away supporters’ ticket at the gate. Their GA tickets were $20. Was not thrilled.
Macarthur slugging away fans $40 (plus booking fees) is a f**king disgrace as far as I’m concerned, and tbh slugging their own active $40 a pop is f**ked too. They were charging $450-odd for a full season active supporter membership in the ‘bullpen’, wtf is going on at executive/ticketing level there I don’t know but it’s a disgrace.
Even our GA ticket prices are way too expensive. but Macarthur, $40 for the worst seats in the house is just disgraceful.
Every single fan knows that high ticket prices are killing this game - but every single fan knows a lot of the problems, which the FFA have conveniently ignored.
Big Bash is $44 for a FAMILY ticket - and the ONLY reason I know that? Because of advertising. Because I see that plastered all over Melbourne.
Having said that, adult tickets start at $20 and kids at $5.
$44 for 2 adults and 2 kids, especially for a game that puts a huge amount of effort into it being an entertainment product, versus our prices.....I mean, it's a no brainer for a lot of people - especially for a family with a limited entertainment budget.
Just checking Melbourne Stars (Big Bash - every membership - even a 2-game one - offers a $25 discount next year as well.
Tickets for away support should be no higher than $20 - and they need to remember that away supporters are doing the club a fkng favour - they're the ones building atmosphere, and atmosphere puts bums on seats. Active support increases ticket sales and merch purchases - that should be considered in the pricing.
EDIT: and because BBL actually know what they're doing, the first website I visited after writing this post (which, as you can see, included visiting Sydney Stars and Melbourne Renegades for pricing) was facebook.
What's the first thing I see?
BBL advertising.
The fact that the FFA/A-League don't use contextual advertising is simply unforgivable and inexcusable.
I've had contextual advertising from clubs (I laughingly commented earlier that I now see ads for other clubs memberships on this site after checking everyone's membership pricing), but never from the A-League / FFA as a whole.
I mean, I've literally gone to the pages of most clubs, and I STILL have seen literally nothing to even tell me that the season has started. Nada. Not a thing.
