Was really disappointed with McGing today and was saying my wife that that is what you get when you extend someone's contract. On reflection though it probably just shows how we missed Baro's organisation. I suspect he would have looked better with Posco next to him instead of Liam.

Liam is not going to be a professional footballer for long.

I don't understand what Liam was trying to do with his header. It was horrendous - what was he trying to do?

Just listened to Okon’s presser, what a load of bollox! Reckoned the boys were flat in the first half but no mention of him getting the formation horribly wrong, why can’t he just accept responsibility for it? The fact that the team was more competitive after he changed back was clear to anyone watching the game, so why not just come clean and hold his hand up?

When asked about our striking woes, he reckons there wasn’t enough money available from the club. Hard to believe that when we have let players go and I can honestly see the club having to pay the players a ‘Walmsley-bonus’ to meet the cap floor come season’s end, what a crock.

I have been a season ticket holder since round 1 of season 1 but I really am not prepared to stomach the current owner deliberately under-investing in the team year after year, so they can kiss mine (and my famliy’s) renewal goodbye next season unless that changes. Enough is enough.

Nice assist from Melling and how good did Skapetis look. Not only busted a gut through some muscle around as well.

Was clear from his first 3 touches off the bench in his first game for us that he should be starting.

Something I noticed and by my count it was 5.

DDS put five balls behind the last line of defence and well before the keeper could come out. In 3 of the 5 cases Powell had the first step adavantage and twice the WSW defender got the first step after the ball..... Powell on the three times he went first was easily run down by the WSW defence and the twice the defender went first he did not get close enough to pressure the defender.... Not once did Powell even come close to either winning the race to the ball or in putting pressure on the defender.

In these times of quick ball movement having a slow striker reduces what can be achieved.

For me TBT played all or most of his junior Football as a striker and is suppose to be the fastest in the league ... IMO play TBT and Skapetis up front in a 4-4-2 formation.... TBT has the speed and at this stage of the season we need to do something different.

Mids,,, Peter Kekeris [youth team], New Dutichie, DDS, Hoole [RM] in a diamond formation.

I'm no sure about the 442, because I think we need two Dm's based on our talent by which I mean lack thereof. But totally agree with everyth9ing else Middy. Powell is just too slow at this level to score a lot of goals.

I don't understand what Liam was trying to do with his header. It was horrendous - what was he trying to do?

One thing I have noticed that McGing has stopped doing is coming to the ball and he is getting caught out a lot.

If he is on the side line and calls for the ball and its played to his feet where he is standing he stands there waiting for the ball rather than come to the ball, and losing lots of ball if he needs to chase it down he is OK but balls played straight to him his feet are fixed to the ground.

AS for Rosebud for those that can recall an old petrol ad .... the tiger in the tank .... skill yes but heart and soul ... sadly I think his days are numbered and he will be running around in the NPL sooner rather than latter...

BTW similar ad to the UK on put a tiger in your Tank.

I like it. Particularly because depending how you play it can be less dependent on wing backs and at the moment I don't really consider McGing or Roux as functioning wingbacks. (In before Wombat says I don't consider Roux a defender at all.)

Don't know what happened to Rowles, looked more solid at LB than either Roux or Rosey.

After the dismal failure of his 4-4-2 diamond experiment for 25 mins yesterday, I think we ought not to go there again. Apparently they were rehearsing it in training during the week and it wasn’t working any better then either but hey, let’s give it a go anyway eh?

We were way too narrow in midfield to start with yesterday and Melling in particular was having to make too many lung-busting recovery runs across the midfield, just to close space down, so it clearly wasn’t working from the outset. The forwards were also seemingly not tasked with any defensive responsibilities either, allowing WSW to overrun our defence at will. It was a very naive approach from a professional coach imo and not unreminiscent of the bad old days under a certain Mr Walmsley.....

Things are simply not good enough on or off the park in what was a vital game but you can bet nobody (least of all the coach) will be held accountable, so the season will likely continue drifting on to its inevitable conclusion. The dynamics and economics of our club simply cannot afford a ‘that’ll do’ approach, it has to aim as high as possible in all areas, just to be able to try to compete with the likes of SFC, MVC & $ity.

Where is the heart? Where is the passion? Where is the desperation to give everything? Most of all though, where is the Mariners’ spirit? These are indeed dark times people and there is no real light at the end of the tunnel unless everyone within the club decides to show some collective ownership of the issues and tries to genuinely do something about it. If things do not seriously change, I fear that the club’s declining fortunes will continue to gather speed downhill past the point of no return, what a sad state of affairs for a once proud football brand.
