Frustrated, felt like we could have/should have won that game, good lesson in the need to take chances. Knew as soon as Murray missed those 2 chances we were in trouble.

Not sure if it is just me but Da Silva's body language looked ordinary to me when the boys first went on the field. Walking away from the huddle and generally looking like he was too good to play for us. (Interested in others views on this one?)

I thought Ziggy was good, bit different to the attacking fullbacks we are used to but defensively I thought he was pretty solid. Probably positioned himself a little too wide at times.

Positives to come from the game, being frustrated and disappointed in a loss because we played well is nice for a change!

For me it feels like the better team lost, but the team with the better striker won.

As simple as that and it's been said to death.

Welcome to the Forum I hope you enjoy it it as much as everyone else here.

I didn`t see DDS `s body language but his actions on the field I thought were were fantastic.
He really played his heart out and I wasn`t surprised that Staj replaced him as he gave everything he had for us.

I`m a bit indifferent about Ziggy though.
He`s not the attacking wing-back in the same vein as Storm or Pedj but I think we have to look at him through Staj`s eyes.
He`s a versatile defender who can play anywhere along the back 4.
Ziggy does give us strength and experience at the back and is better than we had last year in a defensive role.
Staj`s first priority (I think) was to build a decent defensive team that could stop leaking goals.
From what I saw yesterday he has started to do that.

this is a pretty good team . with a moderately amount of quality up front we would have been 2 up and they fall apart .
but with no striker as everyone else has said ,it will fall away without goals as the season continues .

i'd said half of the hardcore support base weren't going to sign or were very late to sign .
staj and birighitti got me back and mrs tb said we should resign

should the team be allowed to fall apart and staj leaves then .i won't be back 20/21

i thought we were pretty solid out the back .which makes the striker issue an open wound
that will kill us if not resolved

IMHO Staj needs at least another off season to build a decent side (decent = top 6 for sure, top 4 maybe)
We have Wee Judas and Simon to leave at the end of this season and that frees up cap space for some quality. I thought Judas coming on was a real slap in the face to Nissy. We needed someone to dig in in the middle and control the tempo. Not some lightweight doing all he could to not get involved.
Nice to feel anxious deep into a game rather than have given it away after 20 minutes

I thought Ziggy was very good, yeah the way we set up we need the full backs contributing a lot going forward and he didn’t really until the last 10 and he did well in those moments.
But c’mon boys, he literally only gave away the ball once. Made a couple excellent crunching all ball tackles and more importantly kept the ball instead of a hopeful chip in behind. He was professional. And wasn’t caught out defensively. The one time he was caught slightly up field was when he forced a tough pass and he got back fine.
I know that’s the kind of full back I’d prefer.
He’ll have more input going forward in future matches.

I didn’t think he had a bad game, and I really like his calm, decision making and he’s great in the tackle. It’s just as I said. I think it’s pretty obvious he won’t offer much going forward (I can live with that) but to me he just looks very slow. Which unnerves me going forward. Some players run in a heavy set kind of way which can make them look slower...

Anyway this is why I was keen on hearing what people thought. Genuinely glad to hear if you and others think he’s going to be a rock at RB.

As others have mentioned, welcome aboard.

In regards to DDS, I thought he was super energetic and engaged compared with prior sessions. We are all aware of his technical abilities, so there's definitely room for improvement, but positive signs for the season ahead.

Did McGlinchey get a run? I saw him come on, but never saw him after that, so I thought he'd gone off. Maybe he'd just brought on water for some of the guys. :vhappy:

Only just caught up on the game.

Disappointing to lose but we were VERY good and deserved to win. Quite pleasing to see and encouraging going into the season. Kudos to Staj. Oar my MoM. Maybe shared with Duric.

Still just that one quality striker away aren't we?

i wondered if playing weemac was because he can score a goal . desperate measures indeed

We couldn’t actually see the goal at the other end from the seats we were given, so moved upstairs where it was empty and the view was fabulous. Why would you fill the seats with a restricted view first ( we bought our tickets on day 1)?

Also great to be at a stadium with a great food selection. Can highly recommend the pizzas and pulled pork.

I don't think any of our subs improved our Matchplay. If anything I think we looked flat and slow afterwards. Certainly we were almost dead in the water after the pen.

Now , don’t get me wrong , I love Muzz BUT like Kossie intimated yesterday , his decision making was/is a bit off ( chesting the ball down instead of heading it) ...has this happened cause he hasn’t been starting much ? ...I mean , you watch his APIA video and his banging in shots on automatic pilot....is it just because of minimal minutes or did Mulvey f**k his head up last season...either way, get over it sport cause tommy and Sammy want to #FEEDTHEMUZ
Yeah it concerns me because he had a few chances to put shots on target and didn't. It's his job. Get ball shoot ball.

Oh look - an actual striker that we wouldnt pay for just scored for Western whats it. Berisha plays for us and we win by 3 yesterday

Yeah the more I think about the game and seeing berisha’s poached goal and even Wellington’s pommy striker...
We’re 1000% just lacking a goal scorer.
Transfer window closes 31 OCT i think.

Thats what you pay for - scrappy game, nothing in it, he gets 1 chance and BANG. Exactly what we were missing yesterday

At the speed these two are playing at we’d be doing laps around them. Pain the only one that seems like moving anywhere fast.
