Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Lowy's was talking about the loss's of the various clubs and he said some are not run so well and the best is showing a loss of $750k and they are leading the comp.
So if we are leading the comp and have recieved $900k less the 750=150 less tax at 30% =$45k

That's if the $900k comes after the -$750k position, bringing us into a +$150k position rather than a -$750k position from a -$1.65m position.

And I think NB was more thinking "as if we need to owe the ATO any more money", given that we appear to owe lots on what must presumably be BAS/IAS.

Lowy's Interview and it was theTelegraph not the SMH

Can the A-League survive without Palmer and Tinker?

No doubt about it.

But they are saying they lose upwards of $25 million a year.

Some clubs run their businesses with only a $750,000 deficit. And they are on top of the league. Other clubs spend millions more because the management isn't as good. If you run your club properly and don't overspend you can exist. With the next TV deal, our objective is to pay the clubs their salary cap or close to it.

And yes Dibo any permatations could exist that we don't know about.

it's to much money to turn down . im still puzzled why we haven't seen musialik yet .
in any case here is my out of left field call. lets play zwanee as DM and play sainbury in
as stopper.
please feel free to throw stones

. interesting

. i too have been surprised we haven't seen stu by now ... arnie brought him in for a reason and he has reputedly been 'fully fit' for some time

. interesting thought regarding swayze. losing rostyn i think our biggest loss (if we default to hutch or stu) is aerial presence and mobility ... i don't think distribution is a particular griffiths selling point over the others

. patrick would offer that same aerial presence/dominance and probably better distribution ... not so sure about his old legs - would they handle the demands of the midfield? no doubt he is pretty fit for an old bugger ... but would any limitations be exploited in that role?

. one criticism i have of the big man is his occasional over-commitment to an intercept/intervention. not sure if this would become more prevalent if he was to move forward to DM or less of an issue having two CBs behind him

Good luck to Griffiths.
Players only have a limited earning time span & have to maximise their earnings while they can.
If it means we stay afloat for a few more months, then that`s more important than anything at this stage.
I think management has done well to get the amounts that have been reported & we will obviously see more players moving on to reap the rewards that ARNIE has prepared them for.
It`s disappointing for us (as MARINERS fans)to see our favourite players going, but we have to accept that we are a small club that has to survive in tough economic times.

I just wonder how Matty feels going to Korea,if China are paying a lot more?

You only pay tax if you declare a profit at the end of the financial year. No business worth its salt is going to pay tax if it doesn't have to. Our operating P/L may be running at $750k but we may well be carrying other liabilities.

as far as Rostyn is concerned he is a big loss coming on the back of the loss of Matt Simon. We are losing a significant amount of physicality in the spine of the team. We can replace him with Hutch, for now,and poss Musialik ( but I too wonder why he hasn't been sighted at all)but ultimately we are weakened at a crucial time. Whenever he played well the Mariners did too. And he was also regarded as cover for Wilko or Zwaanswijk; much as I like Sainsbury's potential I don't see him as a CB. The dollars though are significant.Fortunately we have never relied on him like we had to with Jedinak. And I would point out that he didn't have a good Grand Final as he went off with migraine so we can cope without him.

HUGE LOSS at a HORRIBLE TIME.

But... thank you Rostyn. You've been a great Mariner and we all know the club can do with the cash.
Note to club. Please keep Arnie.

As to solving the problem...

We actually have a lot of depth. We all know it's 99% likely just a straight swap for Hutch and Olly to come back in out wide.
But we have the players to do anything from a 433 to 4141 with Amini and Rogic on the field at the same time.

There's also another option people have overlooked as DM. He has a fantastic passing range, and has just captained our Ollyroos albeit to dismal defeat (see Aurelio).

Personally, I want speed and creativity. Clubs are doing tacticallly better and better against our system, might not be a bad time to mix it up. Of course that could be disastrous too ;)

In Arnie we trust.

. oh and i just remembered that 'reason' came back from his spell in china when he was expected to stay ... and has had a great season

Very bad loss but decent business. Hutcho can play that role Ok especially with Olly outside him. Griffo has been average at times this year and Hutcho has been generally very good so hopefully we can still keep limping forward.
Our momentum has gone anyway so I'm not massively worried but he will need replacing next year and that may be differcult.
