ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Rostyn seems to have moved on for a truck load of cash. Big loss to the Mariners but the amount of money is irrestible. At least we have depth in the position - may even mean we see Musialik play.

What can you say. At the end of the day we are going to lose players and this is financially rewarding for Rostyn and the club. I wish him the very best. Be interesting to see who steps into the role now.

Wish him well but not a good time to sell a player of his quality...Yep the money fine ... Matty S and Rostyn taken together are a big loss.

Can anyone say Jedinak? Sold just before the champions league, when we're on a high, then the huge fall. I think we've screwed ourselves out of a title here.
my thoughts exactly. Aussie clubs will alwsy be development/selling clubs...and like others on here, I wish Rostyn well. He's a top player and will be missed. But it's hard for us to take with the memories still there of what happened when Jedinak left.
it's not looking good for us in either the ACL or A-League from here on in....... :headbutt:

Unlike when Jedinak left i don't think we'll have a massive dip in form. The differences are;

Coaching structure is much, much stronger....... No offence Lawrie.
Tactical awareness and preparation for ACL will be much stronger under Arnold.

Player depth is a lot deeper.
When Jedinak left we had no direct replacement, Hutch filled the void, not as good but then that weekend another position.

Rostyn is very good and will be hard to replace, Hutch can fill it but we lose Rostyn's aerial threat and more accurate distribution BUT no other position is weakened by him leaving. Can Musialik fill it better than Hutch?? lets hope.

We also have a better back four behind Rostyn then we did Jedinak.

So i think we lose an edge but we are still a solid unit and a much better team then the last ACL tilt/ finals.

Bring on the Premiers plate and ACL knockout stage!!!!!

Geeze, hard one to lose. We will really miss that distribution. Hutch has the defensive bit down, but I can't see him having the same positive passing range. Stu Musalik...what does he play like? Can't remember the last time I watched him play.

EDIT - Seem to have found some.

think its great for rostyn obviously and for aussie football to have more guys overseas . . . just shows what arnie has done with some of these guys . . . . . for me it just highlights the need to resign patrick for defensive strength. . .keen to see musialik get a run

Great for Rostyn but he will be badly missed. Could be wrong but think he would have gone after this season anyway and we may have got nothing for him. Brilliant dollars for the club that should ease the pressure.Time for someone to step up and fill his shoes(or boots!).Hutch or Musilak would do a solid job, but we'll lose a fair bit in both the air and passing.

Yes - he was off contract and looking to head overseas again. To get anything for him is good business for the club. On the football side he will be sorely missed. A chance for Stu to step up.

On the bright side, hopefully we will now be able to keep Arnie.

If Arnie's main reason for staying with the Mariners is because he "loves this group of players", what hope is there of him staying if most of them leave for lucrative overseas contracts?

From a business point of view, its been a good year with the sales of Amini, Simon and now Griffiths, and the finding of good young replacements like Ibini. But not so good from a paying fans perspective if the Premiership\Championship prospects evaporate because of the sales.

A few weeks ago sainsbury came on as a dm. The biggest damage would be done if Patrick gets hurt

To answer NB the Mariners tax on $900K will be 50K at company rates if Frank Lowy's statement in the SMH is correct.

The papers had weemac hoping to go to china as well. Maybe the dip is because a few guys have their minds on other things.
