ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I find it hard to believe that you cannot say "Central Coast Mariners" on 2GO or SeaFM in a news story. That just makes no sense to me at all.

Contracts my friend. They make the world go down......I mean around. :p

Getting the score wrong is unacceptable and shows that it is not important at all to the station. If it was a simple thing such as having the score written down would be done for them and their meathead league brains wouldn't need to think about it.

If its market share their after then we need to realise that football will not be their priority on the coast. Yet.

Triple J all the way. During the news they always mention the results of the AL and their DJ's are actually funny and not cashed up for comment. Music is always 3 months ahead of any of the local stations.

I have star fm on in the car for the music... and I like listening to Rod and the Flack crapping on to each other in the mornings. It's just pretty obvious they have little to no interest in football, that they can't even organise a sheet of paper in front of them with the latest Mariners result, or when they interview players they just talk about NRL/AFL/(other).

I think it's a bit strange that in such a small area the Mariners have to pick one station as sponsor and the others can't (or just won't) talk about them? Sounds like a bit of a dodgy deal there, surely something better could be worked out to get proper coverage on the coast?

me too, considering every other news agency in australia say central coast mariners including other local radio stations

it is not as if 2GO signed a contract saying that they will NOT say "mariners" and they are reporting on facts in their news

cannot be legally enforcable so sounds like an internal edict to me

I can assure you that the Mariners are not preventing other radio stations talking about them.

well listening to rod and the fat this morning with lawrie it was great to hear two sentences regarding the mariners and the other 20 minutes lawrie was on speaking about mark webber, sebastian vettel and of course the ashes, i dont think i heard a mention of league.... i probably just missed it because they cant help but do that. pissed me right off!

they are having a farewell on friday, i want to go and push them on the bus and lock the doors behind them before they decide to not go.

bye bye enjoy your pissant town which has even less league support then here!

I don't listen to Star much but they always seam to be promoting the Mariners when i do listen.

Rod and the Flack are indicative of mainstream media in Oz that generally knows fak all about Football.

It does seam churlish that 2GO are deliberately not mentioning the Mariners. Grow up 2GO!

Do you even read these boards?

Heres what you missed

If anyone has any questions regarding 2GO/Sea FM, please feel free to PM me.

Yes, we were devastated to lose the sponsorship, and have been working very hard to get it back for the next season, especially as our station is full of football fans.

I too am curious as to who you spoke to at 2GO, as the person would of either been myself, or our marketing director. Contractually, we cannot say the Central Coast Mariners. However, we do mention the scores of the game (correctly...), and refer to them as "Central Coast", instead of the "Central Coast Mariners". We also report on the scores of the local premier league too, when it was on.

As someone who has a say in the sponsorship side of things, I would love to hear any input anyone has :) After all, the game is "fan made"!

To be fair to Rod and the Flack - they are AFL blokes and promoted AFL far more than they ever spoke about league.

I gave up on commercial radio some months ago, addicted to Triple J now. But Mick was right earlier on, Star do get on the Mariners a bit, but I think in some ways they might just lack a bit of professionalism.

The marketing in general (not just on radio) is sub-par for CCM, and the A-League in general. Hopefully the next deal involves some Free To Air coverage, that might help.

Poko I trust you got the PM that I sent you. Don't know whether it helped or not.

I took some notice of the ads you are running for the game on Sunday and noticed that you are not referring to the team as Central Coast but simply The Mariners. I find that a much better compromise as The Mariners is the brand name that reflects our football team. So in the future will 2GO refer to the team as The Mariners when giving the results of their games also or will they continue with Central Coast for results and The Mariners for advertising.?

This is one of my pet hates as well, I only listen to the radio in the car on my way to work. The Flacks voice grinds on my nerves. I have perservered for the last 3 weeks to hear about my team or listen to an interview with one of our players. So far I listened to them talk to Alex Wilkinson about cricket and they also had a Ditzy girl on so Alex probably got to say 5 words in all he did not get a chance to say anything else, then there was the interview with Lawrie and they spoke about cricket AGAIN and nothing about the Mariners. I give up Im going back to seafm

I was amazed listening to the 8am news this morning on SeaFM. They gave the results from last nights game then gave a plug for the Sydney Perth game actually pointing out that it was at Parramatta and not SFS. No mention of the Mariners game.

Flicked over to 2GO same pre recorded news bulletin, minus the mention of the Sydney game.

Sports show on 2GO on Saturday morning with Steve Allen had a wrap up of the Victory game and a preview of the Gold Coast match. There were no contractual difficulties in mentioning the words Central Coast or Mariners. All in all, a fairly positive coverage.
